Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc

Liked this!! From wine story for around 35, brought to tanoshi with the bbb. Sadly we had to chug towards the end since we had a bottle of sake beforehand but I think it was really drinkable alone. Classic sancserre, stone fruity, lemon, apple, minerals 💖 — 9 months ago

Les Implipeaux Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Star bright yellow gold. Inviting nose of yellow apple and lime rind. Echoed on the medium light palate with sharp flinty mineral and firm acidity. Lengthy finish trends toward grapefruit rind and slate. Jolivet’s Implipeaux property gives a solid silex experience that’s at home with haute cuisine (poultry and seafood in particular) and will upscale more everyday fare. Drink now through 2027. — 2 years ago

Domaine du Piton A Sancerre

Le Piton Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Star bright pale straw. Inviting nose of stony lime zest. Medium light palate yields lime (the fruit), lime (the mineral), and green apple peel supported by striking firm acidity from entry to moderate finish. Jolivet acquired this small (8 hectares) property in 2015 and the investment is definitely paying off. This is a premium Sancerre from a top producer that’s ready for shellfish, sushi, or soft cheeses (I’m having Professor’s Brie and two others). Drink now through 2025. — 3 years ago

Sancerre Pinot Noir Rosé

This is a new one for me—Sancerre Rose. Initial sniff gave me some old cork smell, but it dissipated. Some fruit and flowers on the nose, with more juicy, tangy fruit at first taste. Drinks more like a white to me, which isn’t a bad thing. Pairs very nicely with leftover Thanksgiving turkey and sage stuffing. 2021 vintage. — 5 months ago

Cuvée de Louis St. Joseph Shiraz 2020

Give it a day to breathe. For young vines, short maceration, and steel aging, this is deep, mouth-coating (and slightly reduced upon opening), but dialed in with some air. Great value, $23 from Flatiron — 2 years ago
