Dry not fruity — 9 years ago
A big white with oak notes and a bit tannic. Quince and lime. A Robert Parker fav. Not a fan. — 9 years ago
The wine was double decanted and we tasted it after three hours later. On the nose, a touch of pepper, soft spices, blueberries, blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, black raspberries, black plums, rich dark soils, light vanilla and fresh and decayed dark soils. The 2011 is very lean. It tasted like it had 10-12 years of bottle age rather than it's 6. Not to say that the 11 is turning just yet, but I certainly don't believe this is going to be a long cellar vintage. Soft fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, blueberries, black raspberries, black plum, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, crushed dry rock powder, very soft leather, mid intensity volcanic minerals, lightly brewed coffee, strawberries come on later and acidity that could be better. The 2011 is not going to hold up as many of the other Insignia vintages do. It's already not as rich and full bodied as other vintages at 6 years of age. On the long finish, it's already showing some fig, date and prune qualities. Photos of their big dinning room and some wildly fragrant white roses on the back terrace. — 9 years ago

Not for me — 10 years ago
Nice dark fruit nutty combo, remains light, not heavy — 11 years ago
Crisp and light. A touch of oak but not overbearing like Californian whites. Wonderful summer wine. — 11 years ago
Love me some Nebbiolo grape. This is a bossman wine. If you're not a bossman, do not bother drinking this. BIG grape and strawberry on the nose. Big strong tannins, like a bull market, but the wine version. — 12 years ago
So delicious. Waxy and creamy and appley. The more you let it sit in your glass the more personality it gets. This wine wants to party but not at a club because it's classy like that. — 12 years ago
A classic Bordeaux style blend, (older vintages omitted Petit Verdot). Aged for 19 months in French Oak. Deep purple with Ruby edges, aromas of fresh berry fruits with cedar and spice. On the palate cherry, blackberry and blueberry fruit, with sweet and savory oak notes. Drinking well for a 2015, needs decanting. Tannins were smooth and firm, with flinty cacao on the long finish. Faust wines do not disappoint, even when young. Nice! AFav! — 8 years ago
Perfect time to drink. I do not believe it will get better with more age. — 9 years ago
$20 on sale. Blueberry, blackberry, and minerally. Great intensity, thick but not in an over the top jammy way. Not sweet up front. Improved from an hour or two of decanting, but still a little hot. — 9 years ago
The 13 is starting to soften a bit. I have a case of this and I generally do not buy more than six bottles of most wines. Just too much good wine to own. However, this has all the making of a superstar. The concentration is incredible. All beautiful dark ripe fruit, beautiful tannins and acidity. Mid red fruits pull up the rear. Nice leather, underbrush, cocoa powder, soft rich minerals and a polished long finish. This could easily end up being the best Napa Cabernet they've made. Exceeding some of their older Insignia's. Can't wait to open this in 10-15 years. — 10 years ago

Slightly sour/watery feel. Helped cut through buttery crab, but would not have wanted to drink solo or more than one glass. — 11 years ago
If you really want to see what Roar Pinot Noir is about? Try their Santa Lucia Highland Vineyard! Awesome juice. The 2013 is the complete package . Love Do Ferreiro. They have a special cuvée only available at the winery from 250 year old Albariño vines, but it's not this one. 2012. — 12 years ago

Easy going, good body, fruity but not sweet, blends well with many foods — 14 years ago
Rich, not too oaky — 8 years ago
Gooseberry, bramble, violets, hint of sage. This is a full-bodied Merlot. However, the middle picks up a cola note but doesn't really go to a chocolate like the 2010 and 2012 had more of a tendency to do. This one really did not have a ton of acidity nor did it really have a ton of tannin to resolve. There was definitely enough tartrate in the bottle though! I really look for this one to continue aging quite nicely for another 10 to 15 years. But oh man, this one is drinking pretty darn nice right now. — 8 years ago
Deep purple in color with a dark purple rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, sweet black plums, black currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, graphite, chocolates, mocha, smoke, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, sweet strawberries, cherries, currants, oak, spices, earth, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, chocolates and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very enjoyable red wine from Portugal, with a nice mouthfeel. Nicely balanced with mild complexity and a tangy ending.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins, but drinkable right out of the bottle.
Peaking now. Not one for long term aging. I really liked the nose here. Good by itself or with food. I paired it with goat cheese and nuts.
Aged for 12 months in Oak barrels.
14% alcohol by volume.
$20 — 9 years ago
Mulberry, blueberry compote, white pepper, game, violets, balsamic, sun dried tomatoes, rust, dried mint. Rounded acid/minimal smooth velvet tannin balance, medium bodied, juicy-silky texture, long fruity-floral finish. Gamay-like in aromatics, fruit forward midpalate with enough structure to handle red meats while not overpowering seafood or white meats. Quaffable in its youth, gains texture and finesse with age. — 10 years ago
Not as much of a favorite as the regular blend, but very good. Might've been skewed a bit with the BBQ sauce and the chili sauce, so will need a second go. — 10 years ago
Opens up with busy, detailed aromatics though also with quite a beastly amount of tannin that puts this probably about a decade away from primetime, for my tastes. Even so, it delivers quite an engaging and dynamic performance today. It has deep, black-pitched flavors with a touch of cedar and gravel, but not so much like the famous 'lead pencil' of the northern end of Pauillac - for some reason this feels almost more like a St.-Julien to me, kind of reminiscent of a Leoville-Barton with a bit more sinewy muscle. And then, about three hours in, it announces, "Hey, by the way, this is what a first growth can do," and those muscular tannins almost in an instant turn exquisitely refined, liquid cashmere. — 11 years ago
Very harmonious. Does not taste young nor old. Fruit is relatively bright. Definite fruitcake aspect with lovely subtle spice. No heat, imagine would be fine for another 20 years without too much difficulty. Perhaps no real fireworks but in a very lovely place at the moment — 11 years ago
Any words I try to put to this wine would not do it justice. Can't wait to try the '10. Will be cellaring the '06s for another decade. — 12 years ago

A great vintage and stupidly good with Hedy’s Melted Racklette Confit Potatoes with smoked olive oil. What a pair!!!
If you enjoy this young, over chill and decant one hour. It needs it and it vastly improves.
Hedy is our good friend and is a chef who would earn 1-2 Michelin Stars should she choose to open a restaurant but, wishes not to do. Check out Hedy’s Pop Up Dinner business @plate&bottle on Facebook.
