Tasted blind. Deep tawny color. Heavy nose with lots of drama going on. Notes of old wet cedar desk, red fruits, pepper, mocha, dark moist earth and some spice. Great structure. Has a perfect balance of fruit that strongly remains in the picture with structure and acidity. Silky, coats the mouth. Might have been the WOTN until the next bottle was poured. — 3 years ago
Tried twice! From a warm vintage, medium lemon color with aromas of white fruits and wet stone aromas. On the palate flavors of ripe apple & peach, very complex, lively acidity. Long finish ending with mineral and sweet honey character, should age well, but great now! — 3 years ago
About 95% of grapes sourced from Carneros, aged about 8 months on 1/3 new oak with 20% of wine going through malolactic fermentation. Aromas of ripe stone fruits with slight honey oak scents. On palate complex flavors of ripe apple, peach & lemon zest, balanced with good acidity & great mouthfeel. Long finish ending with fruit, wet stone and toasty character. Very nice, will age well. — 4 years ago
A white to savor. Beautiful precision from one of the benchmark producers of Vouvray. Wet wool, oxidized yellow apple, creamy viscosity on the palate still presenting as dry. This will age for years to come. Incredibly complex, I got something new every time I revisited the glass. — 5 years ago
Ordered off a restaurant list. Straw gold. Great vibrant nose. Very mineral. Notes of lemon, white flowers, wet river stones and some cardamom. After several hours of air this blossoms. Still young but had some nuances of complexity. Great to compare the 2010 vs the 1986 today. — 7 years ago
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (24%), Petite Verdot (3%) and Cabernet Franc (3%). Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas of plush black fruit, violets, graphite, leather, cedar and wet gravel. Jammy raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors with additional notes of plums, black currants, mocha, coffee, tobacco and baking spices. Beautiful hints of smoke and dusty earth on the long and precise finish. Rich and concentrated with great intensity. Medium-plus body and some noticeable tannins. Still a bit tight, but heading to a very good place. Thank you so much for the wonderful gift, Kasey and Pete! — 7 months ago
This was a surprise! The body and color were surprisingly light, with a light maroon/burgundy, and a Nose of sharpie and old velvet couch opening to notes of wet leaves, and then evolving into chamoy and a fresh bouquet of flowers. this is a wild and excitingly different wine. Like, wow, at first the palate was straight sweet jam, then it became vegetal, with pronounced freshness of prickly pear, with well integrated tannins and a slightly orange citrus finish. — 3 years ago
Blend of 96% Sauv Blanc with 4% Sauv Gris adding an interesting dynamic to the wine & distinctive aromas (prior to ‘18 vintage some Semillon added). Pale lemon color, citrus, tropical & floral aromas. On the palate peach, melon, herb & earthy tones, well balanced with acidity, smooth yet robust on a long finish ending rich with wet stone character. Good value! A Fav!! Very consistent! — 3 years ago
Day 2 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. Tasted blind. Medium gold color, slightly darker than the 89 Raveneau next to it. Cochey nose with notes of wet stone, petrol, marzipan, tan spice and pit fruit. Powerful with massive acidity. Got better and better over the day. Love 99 Leflaive! Guessed 05 Coche Meursault Genevrieres. 96+ — 4 years ago
Light gold, not showing much age in the glass. Heavy weight like motor oil. Exotic and exciting nose. Notes of citrus, sweet apricot, wet river stone, some flint and petrol, some tan spice and some ripe peach. Sappy fruit in the mouth balanced against the still-strong acidity and structure. Drinking well now, especially with 5 hours of air, this has a long life in front of it and is just hitting its stride. Love the 99 Leflaives! — 5 years ago
Tasted blind. Light to medium canary gold color. Notes of tangerine, lemon curd, wet stone, tan spice, ginger, hazelnut. Great weight. Tasted blind, we all couldn't pick out the Chablis characteristics, although we're told this had been open for 6 hours. After the reveal, you could discern the terrior. With more air, it softened and developed more honey characteristics. Best sip was the last, like so many Raveneau bottles we've had. — 6 years ago
Magnificent Bordeaux sample! Warm red fruits in the nose, with wet earthy notes. Smooth velvet tannins. I enjoyed it with miso-mushroom broth with dim sum with rabbit and wild mushrooms — 7 years ago
2nd Ribcap wine. Delicious!
2006 followed the grand 2005 vintage. It was overpriced based on 2005 & critically reviewed as a difficult vintage. I can tell you 06 was overpriced, but still a good to very good vintage depending on the region & producer.
The fruits are classic Bordeaux…nicely ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, very dark cherries, black plum, plum, mix of strawberries & red cherries. Wet, volcanic clay, lead pencil for days, slightly, dry tobacco, dark spices, mix of mostly dry & fresh herbs, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon & vanillin, volcanic ash, used leather, sandalwood to cedar, forest floor w/ dry leaves, dry river stone, steeped, dark fruit tea, withering, slightly candied; dark, red florals with hints of violets, round, fresh, river stream acidy, a plush, round, elegant, nicely; tensioned, structured, balanced and elegant polished finish that last 90 seconds. — a year ago
Recent notes suggested this wine was declining and the fruit fading. This was cause for concern as have a few of these I’ve been patiently cellaring. Well, I’m very happy to report this bottle, a Martine’s import, was stellar. To my palate, the wine is in a perfect place. Tertiary aromas and flavors dominate. Very complex aromas of sous bois, herbs de provence, wet saddle and red fruits. The palate is vivid and lively. Extraordinary depth and length that never faded. I can’t say enough great things about this wine. There’s no chance this bottle was fading or won’t last several more years. I don’t think it can improve as it’s almost perfection right now. Simply a stunner. — 3 years ago
Happy Father’s Day. Pop and pour Tig full of rustic elegance. Deep garnet color with notes of wet forest, tobacco, blackberry, plum, leather, and wet earth. Additional chocolate and oak notes on the pallet. Smooth as velvet, on the bolder side (definitely full bodied); dry with medium acidity, medium alcohol and smoothed out tannings. Cheers. — 4 years ago
This is a classic! Decanted for 3 hrs. Clear watery hue, beautiful pale Garnett in the middle. Medium viscosity, medium alcohol. On the nose, red cherry, strawberries, flowers, spices - thyme, clove, wet cigar, wet leaves. On the palate, confirmed red cherries, strawberries and powerful/rigid but silky tannins and racy acidity to balance it all. Long earthy finish. Elegant yet tough...like a ballerina! Very well balanced and serious wine from a good producer. This is their entry level Barbaresco that punches above its weight for what it costs. Stocking up.. this will drink even better in 5 years. — 5 years ago

1 hour decant(some chunky/fine sediment). A splendid dark medium garnet with little bricking. On the nose: expressive perfumed nose with dark plum/cherry, currants, milk chocolate, baking spice, floral, wet forest floor, touch of roasted meat. Taste: silky, balanced, elegant wine that is singing at 20 years with dried red fruit, earth, chocolate, cedar, minerals, saline, and a spiced-tobacco-green bell pepper long finish. YUM! — 7 months ago
