Disg. 2/14 (07 base)…Always my favorite of the Lieux-Dits and without question one of the very best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes on the planet, it’s particularly special to have with some bottle age. It’s absolutely as stunning as hoped—rich and powerful with crazy depth to its layers with a deep, complex core of caramelized orchard fruit, roasted nuts, old rum barrels and candied white flowers, all with seamless integration. The palate is generous and detailed, with racy acids, waves of saline laced, chalky Le Mesnil minerals and a finish that just stays with you. A BdB benchmark, legendary bubbles. — 10 months ago
Smooth, Dry. — 4 years ago
Lemons and crisp minerality on the nose, lemon heavy on the front flavor, with a crisp minerality on the mid-palate. Heavy citrus, it's delicious. — 6 years ago
Great! Easy to drink red blend. — 6 years ago
Floral with acidity but does have a little more sweetness than other Rieslings from the same vintner. As it opens develops some banana top notes. — 5 months ago
Year in year our a great wine. God. I love it.
Nose: white flowers. Grapefruit flowers. Intense. Finely ground minerals. So floral and elegant. Lemon flower.
Palate : elegant sweet pink grapefruit. So delicious. Balancing bitterness. Lovely. Perfect acidic balance.
Long fresh finish.

Last of a 3-pack I bought a few years ago. Should have bought more! Thankfully the ridiculous pricing for the 2008 keeps this 2007 an easy choice when looking for more great champagne.
Having had the 2006, 2007 and 2008 all within the last 6 months or so, it’s fun to see the differences. 2006 seems to be a bigger champagne in regards to richness, yet still has great structure…2008 is wound up crazy tight, extremely chiseled and age worthy…the 2007 is a more accessible version of the three with lots of similarities to 2006.
Right down the middle in terms of style (doesn’t come across reductive or oxidative in profile). Tart lemon, yeasty, chalk, and a hint of nuttiness on the nose. Comtes always has this kiss of freshly baked lemon scone note on the nose to me. Not as multidimensional as 2006, but tons of layers here both aromatically and on the palate. Continuously evolving revealing limestone, powder sugar dusted lemon bars, and roasted almonds. Lemon-lime mineral grip isn’t as prevalent as the 2008 on the finish. This can certainly age, but with how good it is now, pop and enjoy! — 4 years ago
Slightly chill before drinking. Floral, blackberry and spice. Some tannin. Medium bodied. Acid. Good summer red option or lunch/brunch. Paired well with aged cheeses, blackberries. Winner of tonight’s tasting. — 4 months ago
Nose is all mid season red cherries, cherry flower and so so pure. Mulberry, cranberry bog and so much more. Lipstick like intensity and just so focused and clear. Insane nose. Unreal limestone and depth but also it’s like it’s vibrating on its own plain. Wow what a palate. Juicy and structured with just silly good cherry fruit of the early to mid season style and unreal clarity, focus and linearity. Unreal concentration and depth. So stunning and like a squeegee on the palate. Now some violets on the nose and unreal concentration and sorry but light and ethereal. Stunning beyond belief. After air it gets more supple and textured. All red fruit on the palate. — 2 years ago
Lovely rose with a bit more complexity and less acidic bright fruit than the typical rose. Well-balanced dryness. — 6 years ago
Gents, Ladies...this is great example of bottle variance. Shitty label belie a neck fill and evenly moist cork from a Durand. Sweet lush core from the beginning and tight structure throughout (not a lot of swirling) and drank phenomenally for 1.5 hours. Hugely unusual for a heavily Cab based St Estephe...fabulous! Why I love wine! Read my past reviews! Crazy — 7 years ago

Ripe dark fruit aromas, juicy fruit and very vegetal on the palate, tart fruit acidity with big tannins. Very tasty for a cab and a refreshing difference from Cali cabs.
