Clear Night

Château d'Yquem

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2005

What a special treat!!! So enthralled by the moment that I forgot to take a photo with the dessert last night. 😜 This wine was stunning! Layered, complex, balanced. Pronounced and concentrated notes of dried apricot, peach preserves, marmalade, orange zest, Meyer lemon peel, citrus blossom, gardenia, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron, lavender honey, and beeswax. It coated the palate with a lasting finish. Again, such an absolute treat!! — 3 months ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Really impressive showing and has a better quality to price ratio than most of the Bordeaux big boys. So much floral perfume coming out of the glass...this is such an elegant, balanced and classy wine. Perfect date night wine? — 5 months ago

Nice clear bro fruit at the front. Plum and black cherry with a hint of pepper and an inky poise. Very good. — 3 months ago

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

Light and clear. Lime and chalk and steel. Salinity but quite ripe for Raveneau. Lovely intensity, a hint of grapefruit and good balance. — 4 months ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Delectable Wine
9.5

Tasting the 1990 Léoville Las Cases just a few days after the 1989, it is clear which is the best vintage…this one. It has a sublime nose of melted black fruit, tar, cedar and bay leaf that shrugs off the heat of that summer better than most others. At 33 years of age, you could just lose yourself in these aromatics. The palate is clearly holding up well: beautifully defined and supple yet with typical Las-Cases backbone and depth. It builds magnificently in the glass toward a harmonious finish that reminds me of the 1985 in terms of its fleshiness. Wonderful. Tasted at the Lia's Wings/book dinner at Medlar restaurant. Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1975

1975 vintage. From magnum. Decent fill and cork. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Medium body. Nose remained angular and sharp throughout but flavors vacillated between finesse and brutish. Not the star of the night, yet impressive nonetheless. Out of magnum, looks to have 5-10 more years left of quality in store. 3.5.24. — 3 months ago

Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Started the night with the 2018. This year also had scents of walnuts, boysenberry and a bit of barnyard, but extended into cigar smoke. The texture and color were both excellent and the flavors were full bodied spanning from boysenberry, through leather, into seared steak, but also had cigar/tobacco. Enjoyed by all. — 5 months ago
