Love this! Cranberries, black tea with lemon, peppercorns, so fresh and lively. Finish with dark fruits and pepper. Not green. — 5 months ago
Est. in 1861, first winery in the Napa by Prussian-born Charles Krug. Today the winery remains under the leadership of the Peter and Marc Mondavi, whose family purchased winery in 1943. Fruit sourced mainly from five family estates in Yountville, deep Ruby with ripe dark berry scents and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of sweet blackberry and cherry with leather, cacao and vanilla oak. Soft tannins, long ending with toasty oak and fruit! Very nice! — 6 months ago

Better than I expected. Not sure how much we paid, but well worth the price, regardless. — 2 months ago

I compared this 2016 BdB to the 2017 Haliotide Late Disgorged BdB to get a feel for styles. Followed over two days with no change.
One of the better Ultramarine wines I’ve had, and definitely pre-funk. I feel like the last few vintages have shown a lot of bottle variation and sometimes a green/herbal profile, mostly in the BdN and BdB (never in the rosé, that’s my favorite wine in the portfolio).
The older vintages always had a distinct cream-soda aromatic to them that I loved, and this has it in spades alongside truffle Honeycomb and spiced apple. Oxidative flair but not an overly oxidative sparkler. Great depth and richness here…almonds, lemon cream, caramel-green apple. Wears the low dosage so well. Broad on the palate (in a good way). I’d be fine drinking this without food. Tasty. — 7 months ago

Very interesting first impression; nose out of this world and cloaked how floral the wine was. Still needs time. — 3 years ago
Nose has chalkboard dust, mashed cherries, raspberry, ripe currant, oak bark, (minor) moist garden soil, milk chocolate bar and moist pipe tobacco.
Palate has crushed cherries, orange peel, ripe black currant, blackberry, graphite and medium tannins. Long finish, amazing bottle this evening.
About two years since our last bottle, doing very, very well this evening, can hold another 6-12Y (2026-32) in proper storage. — 4 years ago
