Château La Croix St. Estèphe

Château de Pez

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Franc Blend 2022

Blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 59% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby red color with aromas of sweet red berry fruits, floral and cedar spice. On the palate flavors of black fruits, cacao, tobacco and herb notes. Lively acidity, fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, cacao, leather and earthy oak. Nice now! — a month ago

Surprised how well this was showing with its polished mouthfeel with mostly black fruit, graphite, leather, earth, subtle spice & tobacco. From a case purchased on release — 2 months ago

La Croix Bonis

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Merlot dominates this blend but there is some Cabernet Sauvignon and some Cabernet Franc blended in. Medium ruby color with a slight clear meniscus. Fruit forward aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry, dark plum, baking spices and cedar. Medium-plus finish. Medium body and very silky tannins. Well balanced/layered acidity and a very silky texture. A bit more austere than a traditional Medoc red blend. At peak. — 3 months ago

Château Calon-Ségur

Le Marquis Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, cedar-wood, exotic spices. Very very merlot, ripe but not over, its a high octane wine that shows a bit of its 15 degrees on the finish. Not our favorite vintage but the wine is super well done and might benefit from a few more years on bottle. — 3 months ago

375ml. Great as always. Dominated by flowers, cow shit, and terroir. Medium depth. Very expressive, especially on the nose. — 4 months ago

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

For me, this is perfectly aged. Still some nice fruit, but loads of clay-like minerality and cedar in the nose. Soft and palate-coating but with nice balance, the tannins are still present but are not obtrusive. Really long, clingy finish. Really fine. — 2 months ago

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2023

2023 vintage. The blends can vary dramatically at this estate. In this vintage it is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. Refined and elegant, with impeccable balance and refined tannins. Another winner from this extremely reliable estate. Incredible value too. Abv. 13%. — a month ago

In typical Calon-Segur fashion, still kinda of a baby. Nice evolution but plenty of life left in this warm vintage Calon-Segur. — 2 months ago

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

2021 vintage. A bit less body and oak than the last few vintages. Some bright frontal cherry and really good value along with (generally) being atypical of St. Estèphe as it comes across as softer. 10.8.25. — 2 months ago

Château Lafon-Rochet

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

2014 vintage. Last tasted 07.04.25 (9.3) and 01.30.25 (9.3). Decanted with some sed and tasted after 30 mins. Consistent with previous tastings in 2025. Hint of richness up front, then very businesslike afterwards. Fairly dry but began to fold a modicum of fruit into the proceedings a spell ago. Quintessential, affordable BDX with a decade of service tendered out in the boonies but back in town again and starting to hit the hot spots. Lean but not mean. Strike up the conversation in the next year or so and you two just might hit it off. 09.25.25. — 3 months ago
