Château Léognan

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

This was quite pleasant. While a bit too young, this opened up to a lovely wine full of fitness and structure. Black olive and green pepper dominated this young wine with cassis and strong tannins id wait 5-7 uearsto try again. — 7 months ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2018

Lovely white Bordeaux. The Semillon dominated at the beginning, finishing with lemon from the Sauvignon Blanc. Straightforward and nowhere as complex as the Malartic-Lagraviere, but a delicious bottle of wine. The nose had a great citrus and flower aroma. — 4 years ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Archetypal Bordeaux - old world in style, but where the savory characteristics are well-integrated with common Bordeaux fruit notes. Well-structured and precise, with notes of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, cedar, and vanilla with a long, somewhat chalky finish. — 6 years ago

Leognan

Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan 2018

Decanted this for an hour and a half and reserved a glass in the bottle for the second day. These notes are based on the second day, as the flavors seemed to shine through a bit more. On the nose, aromas of blackberry and leather, although had to do quite a bit of swirling to get the aromas to come through. On the palate, beautifully deep flavors of blackberry and black currant coming through, with hints of graphite and cocoa in the background. Tannins seems pretty well integrated with good acidity, although definitely some grip on the finish. Cocoa seems to come through a bit more on the finish as well. Overall really tasty, but seems to be closing down a bit for sure. I have one more bottle, so looking forward to seeing how this tastes in 5-10 years time. — 7 months ago

Château La Garde

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Solid nose of dark red fruits. Tannic yet silky and long finish. This is an excellent old-world merlot/cabernet blend with finesse. It can stand on its own, or be enjoyed with food as it is a little on the acidic side. — 4 years ago

Chateau Bahans Haut-Brion

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

An oldie but a goodie, great claret color, garnet with a touch of purple, a faint brick on the rim. The nose is haunting, with leather and old library page aromas, dried sweet tobacco, smoke, and roasted coffee beans. The palate is silky, expansive, with savory notes and lush and full textures. A long, elegant and broad finish. — 13 years ago

Château de la Louvière

Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2004

I believe this was the second year Chateau Louviere used the Stelvin enclosure on their wines and this may have contributed positively to the experience with this bottle, considering it’s age and rather questionable provenance. The wine pours a sort of burnished gold color, slightly hazy. On the nose, the wine is a little funky with peach, orange, tangerine, lemon, yellow flowers, and wet ashy forest floor. On the palate, desiccated stone fruits and citrus fruits with some vanilla and a nutty marzipan-like thing. Medium+ acid, medium alcohol. Finish is medium+ finish, slightly bitter and slightly sherried but overall really quite satisfying and universally enjoyed. — 5 years ago

Saman Hosseini

Opens with rich brandies fruits, sans the glycerin of full fledged Christmas fruitcake. Continue with smoky fruit and herbs, cedar tobacco and saddle leather. A delicious interplay of rich fruit and hedonistic savory notes, and silky tannins. — 10 years ago
