Served at red wine temperature. Baked apple was the dominant aroma upon opening but transforms into a sour ale nose with air. A creamy palate of white peach , apricot and a strong saline note. The vines of Lilian-Ladouys are found a stone's throw from the Graves of Cos d'Estournel and the Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Deep Ruby red color, with inky tones, blend of mostly Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, aged in French oak for 15 months, aromas of black and blue fruit, smoky notes and soft spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with toasty oak flavors, full body with fine tannins, long finish ending with earthy menthol mineral character. — 10 months ago

It was a special night. 26 year old wine, that incredibly felt like it was just bottled. Tannins still present. Rich black fruit, with graphite and pencil shavings. As special as it was to enjoy this bottle with friends, it’s hard to reconcile the value of the wine. We had a Cos De Estournel with this and it showed just as well at a fraction of the cost. — 4 years ago

Nero is Martha’s grape. She spent her training at Cos and became one of the only, if the only, winemaker spotlighting the grape this side of the ocean.

It’s raw, seriously structured, and intensely tart. Mountain forest berries and a camp fire. Pine, mint, menthol, and cedar - Mezcal smoke circling above. Vibrant acid and tannin and ripe for food. Very good. — 6 years ago
