v21. Very good. Decant. Soft, clean, smoked meat nose. Bright, firm blackberry fruit. Smooth, lean, chocolate and new leather finish. Nice, terroir driven wine.. very good food wine. — 2 years ago
A lovely taste that’s a just a tad sweeter than I like. But Caro loves it. Nice green apple flavor. — 6 years ago
Joe and I both love it, would definitely buy again — 7 years ago
E molto buono. Ha un profumo buono, molto delizioso. Non e troppo dolce come Carera oppure i altri vini da California. Magari che fosse un po meno caro. — 8 years ago
Rich, velvety with deep color. A flavorful blend Malbec & Cabernet Sauvignon=Caro! That means dear in italian! — 10 years ago
2022 vintage. Dark Ruby in color, powerful floral aromas on the nose, smooth notes of plum and blackberry, not chewy but a perfect viscosity for this heavy Malbec/Cab blend; ideal blend, 64% Malbec and 36% Cabernet, makes for the perfect amount of spice and smoke. — 2 months ago

Molto buono. Fresca e fruity. Mia moglie piace anche. Magari che sia un po meno caro(sotto venti). Sarebbe meglio di trovare la volta dello sconto. Se vedi sotto venti, compra la botteglia. — 8 years ago
This is a brilliant wine. Red fruit, smooth, elegant. I haven't had a wine this good in a very long time. AR$732 / US$45 at a restaurant in Buenos Aires, in NYC this is a $150. Mazaltov to you if you can find it. — 9 years ago
E' il mio favarito. Non e' piu pesante in gusto di Chardonnay. L'ho avuto a Sakaya Bic perche ho bisogno di avuto due bottelie per il sconto! Quindi era piu caro, ma e' buono. — 2 months ago

Pure gamey, earthy and smoky Sierra Foothills Syrah, this has aged effortlessly, balance, acidity, complexity, presents as quite French in style, my three favorite reds from Hank and Caro were always the Home Vineyard (until yields got so low I couldn’t even buy it), then the Sumu Kaw Syrah, and the Cedarville Vineyard Mourvèdre (I think the 2007 of this latter wine was the first “released” LCF red wine)!! This has 5+ years of further aging ahead, beautiful red (13.5% ABV)!! Bravo to Hank and Caro!! — a year ago

[41% Tempranillo, 29% Tannat, 22% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.1% ABV] Uh, 2% CabSauv, and the wine is labeled as such in Delectable?? I guess I should just be happy they correctly identified this as the LCF Home Vineyard?? Anyway, l remember how, after the first 2-3 vintages (say, 2008-2010??), this was made in such small quantities, that even after begging Hank for my then-usual 6 bottles of this Sierra Foothills blend from the 10 acre (?) vineyard where their house and goats were being run, but always understood the super tight allocations. A field blend, with perhaps more rattlesnakes than grapes (of course, an exaggeration, though their dogs and cats might have agreed??), the complexity of this amazing field blend (the proportions of which ALWAYS varied year-to-year, depending on the weather and how the different varietals performed), which is why I always found myself begging for more, every year!! With all that said, I’ve found myself VERY SAD that Hank (winegrower/winemaker extraordinaire) and his beautiful French wife Caro (who made amazing goat cheeses from their herd of goats, it was always fascinating to me how the goats had ZERO issues with the poison oak all over their property), have closed down LCF!! Honestly, these two are the finest winery folks I’ve EVER had the pleasure of meeting and tasting their wines!!! — 7 days ago
