Carmen Gran Reserva Carménère 2022
100% Carménère – El Peñasco Vineyard, Apalta, Chile 🇨🇱
This is Carménère at its finest, rich, expressive, and undeniably a Chilean flagship grape.
In the glass: Deep, dark purple with serious intensity. On the nose: Ripe blackberries, plums, sweet spices and tobacco leaves. Hints of anise and paprika adds depth and intrigue.
On the palate: A lush wave of dark cherries 🍒, smooth sweet tannins, and a soft texture that lingers. Beautifully concentrated, yet still fresh and vibrant
Mouthfeel overall: full-bodied, smooth, and balanced. Silky tannins and excellent structure make for a long, elegant finish. This is a stellar example of Chilean Carménère, spicy, earthy, and fruit-forward with finesse. Amazing quality for the price.
Pair it with: grilled meats 🥩, smoky veggies 🍆, or just sip and savor on its own under the stars.
¡Salud! 🥂

Don't think I've had a south African wine, not bad at all! Was great with seafood... — 3 years ago

An excellent wine. Paired beautifully with a steak. Tasted oak, tobacco, blackberry, and balsamic. Very satisfying finish. A lovely gift from great friends. — 8 months ago
Tim would kill us for drinking this so late, but it's delicious! Fruity, malic, bright... with vanilla and nutmeg notes to mellow it out — 4 years ago

Bright medium ruby with medium wide violet pink rim . This is quite exuberantly fruited on the nose at first , with plum , dark cherry , violets then some dry spices, anis, with some slightly toasty , earthy hints after a while . On the palate this is velvety in texture , medium bodied with red plum , dark cherry , ripe blackberry , with a discreet dried spice note . Balanced alcohol , ripe but lightly grippy tannins , and good freshness . Medium length , with cherry , anis and toasty , earthy notes on the finish. Youthful but certainly enjoyable now and , I would imagine , over the next 5-10 years. — 12 days ago
