Drank with dinner on Christmas 2024. Decanted in morning and poured back into bottle, then back into decanter at dinner time. Wine was beautiful dark fruits, almost no appreciable tannins. Paired with duck breast with cherry sauce. A gorgeous combo. — 6 months ago

The longevity this wine is capable of is shocking. The color hardly looks half its age, with a blooming nose that screams a much younger, softened cab of yesteryear. After half an hour open there’s nose of blueberry and butterscotch, vanilla and spicy peppery notes still persist! Over time a mustiness emerged, along with notes of wet wood, maybe even a little mustard! There’s even still a zippy, lingering acidity on the palate that focuses towards the tip of the tongue, either flavors of ripe strawberry, blueberry, plum and some meaty savory subtle notes, but primarily jammy fruit, with a palate that develops some woody cedar and forest floor notes and as it becomes further oxygenated. The Jonata “Flor” is a damn good reason to fall back in love with Sauvignon Blanc (wish a dash of Semillon). Fresh and crisp yet lush and silky- all at the same time. And it evolves. From the nose to every bit of the palate, the “Flor” is a masterpiece. — 5 months ago

Christmas Day wine 🎄🎅🏼🍷

Acquired this for two reasons: Flora Springs was my “a-ha” wine 10yrs ago which started my wine journey, and secondly because it’s my sister-in-law’s birth year.

Enjoyed on Christmas Day (with said sister-in-law) and family (the family who introduced me to wine + Flora Springs). Kept the bottle standing for a few days. In the glass, there was bricking but the color was much more vibrant than expected. Aromatically, it showed mushroom and fig, but a good bit of muddled red and black berry fruit, some mint as well. Alive, elegant and bright on the palate with good tannin structure (held strong the two hours it was open). Small hint of tobacco at the finish, but the berry fruit stayed persistent keeping the flavors balanced. Undeniably older Napa (13%) and in great shape. — 6 months ago

Light garnet color. Very interesting nose and palate of red fruits, rose petals, dried herbs, black tea, bergamot and sweet baking spices. Hint of eucalyptus on the long, complex and earthy finish. Even better than the crazy-good 2007, the 2015 La Sangre de Jonata is sheer perfection in a glass and up with the finest Syrahs ever made in California! Checking in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, aged in barrel, its saturated purple color is followed by out of this world aromatics black raspberries, smoked earth, graphite, game, violets and freshly crushed rock-like minerality. — 5 months ago

Pours like deep yellow extra virgin olive oil, smells like teriyaki glazed grilled pineapple and lemon sesame pound cake, butterscotch crystals, and coconut shavings.

Thick vein of acid keeps this freshy fresh (not at all sloppy).
