Combe Ballard Canyon Trousseau 2019

Juicy and delicious little Trousseau from Ballard Canyon, Cali. Grounded in ripe, red fruited-New World goodness on the palate but offers a salutatory wink and a nod to the Jura for its earthy and funky nose. It’s just an enjoyable, fun glass of wine.

La Cuadrilla Ballard Canyon Red Blend 2016

2016 Ballard Canyon in a snapshot: high-energy, fresh, pure. This year’s Cuadrilla is Syrah-heavy (72%), with Sangio and Grenache for lift. One of the best yet in this series of extraordinary wines! #stolpmanvineyards #ballardcanyon #syrah — 6 years ago

Chamomile, acacia honey, hazelnuts. Superbly concentrated, plenty of acidity, long. Lift & elegance. One of the best Stolpman Roussannes ever. @Peter Stolpman #ballardcanyon #roussanne — 7 years ago

Workhorse Fatman Terrace/Windmill Ranch Syrah

It may have just been a good day or it may have been a really good bottle of wine. But this Syrah is really enjoyable. A little more blackberry than blueberry to me. Touch of pepper and licorice add to the beautiful finish. There is not a lot of this made and you owe it to yourself to try it before it is gone. #saarloosandsons #syrah #ballardcanyon #fatmanterrace #winestagram — 6 years ago

Wound up and young. Med + intensity with good complexity. Flowers, allspice, black and blue fruit. The palate was bright and well structured with firm tannins. Decent finish of cocoa and heat Needs time. #stolpmanvineyards #syrah #santabarbara #california #usa #ballardcanyon #ctbucklinwine — 7 years ago

Big Brother Grenache Noir 2013

Paul H

I tried a new wine which was the 2013 Saarloos and Sons Big Brother Grenache Noir. Wine is like your real life family, some you love, some you tolerate and........well some you don't want to mention. The Big Brother Grenache Noir is like that distant cousin you just met that you wish was your sibling. Upon opening this up to breathe I was greeted with licorice and spice and to me a touch of earth. Once I drank it I was greeted with velvety touches of tobacco, pepper, dark cherries and well balanced acid and tannins. This wine lingered on the palate like a good family memory should. Not knowing what to expect I was very pleasantly surprised with this wine. It will be added to my wines for my family's gatherings and wine times. I hope you try it and enjoy it as much as I did. #saarloosandsons #windmillranch #losolivos #ballardcanyon #grenachenoir — 8 years ago

Syrah So Hot Estate Grown Ballard Canyon 2017

Imagine Allemand being kidnapped and transported to the Wine Ghetto. Imagine him being told “do your Syrah thing...or else”. Carbonic. Sans soufre. Gaining weight and complexity 36 hours after opening. Will easily go 10 years. Sublime & extraordinary. #stolpmanvineyards #syrah #ballardcanyon #sanssoufre #carbonic — 6 years ago

Retasted 12/19/18. Even more explosive and energetic. Many clients feel it tastes like Mourvèdre, but underneath the fruity vitality, there’s olive, bay laurel and ham hock that can only be classic Syrah. Shockingly good.

Originals Ballard Canyon Syrah 2014

A scaled-up, tighter-wound version of the Estate bottling. Rhonish, with understated notes of bay laurel, olive, bacon and roasted red fruits. Needs time, but the promise is obvious. Impeccable. #stolpman #syrah #ballardcanyon — 7 years ago

Carbonic Ballard Canyon Sangiovese 2014

Perfect summer wine, you could even serve this slightly chilled. Low alcohol, nice acid, and a light beaujolais body. #stolpman #ballardcanyon — 8 years ago
