Great minerality and cut, still quite nice acid, rich fruit but undeniably Chablis on the palate, another wonderful bottle of older Raveneau Grand Cru Chablis!! — 5 years ago
Almost clear in color...really delicious Sauvignon Blanc!! Lemon .. Lime...honeysuckle...fresh cut grass...guava...fantastic acidity but less of a bite than New Zealand SB! Complexity..pretty great!! Bravo @Anthony Biagi 🥂 !! Alcohol 14.2%...I had to look at that twice...certainly not tasting it! — 6 years ago
The 1985 Cristal is powerful and resonant on the palate, with just the earliest hints of oxidative notes starting to appear. The 1985 may not have quite the layers, focus or pedigree of the very best years, but it more than makes up for that with its inviting, generous personality. There is so much to like, including the wine’s soft curves and racy feel. The 1985 is an especially opulent Cristal, with attractive smoky and torrefaction overtones, and exceptional balance. “In 1985, we had a severe frost that lowered yields dramatically,” Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon recounted. “It was a vintage to handle carefully. From what the old-timers told me, because I was not here, set was so bad that the percentage of stems relative to fruit was quite high. Our crew works hard to cut as close as possible, especially in challenging vintages. But I imagine some stems and underripe berries made it into the tanks, resulting in somewhat green, bitter flavors at pressing. In the end though, those qualities have been pretty good for aging. Ultimately, Champagne is a battle between ripeness and greenness. If you are too ripe, you have rot, and if you aren’t ripe enough, you are green. You need to find the optimal window for picking.” (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2018) — 6 years ago

Would be amazing with steak. Bold. Pepper. — 9 years ago
Tasted blind. Light gold color. Exotic nose. Notes of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine, lemongrass, cut green apples and a little pineapple. Goes great with the cheese and snacks we have. I’m immediately in Sancerre world with my guess. Very mineral in it’s mouth feel, lots of acidity. I guess Cotat as the producer. This is a fun wine, and really well made. — 4 years ago
Super smooth, slightly sweet wine. I could drink this all day. I’ll be getting another bottle of this one. — 5 years ago

1/5. Corkage at the Nomad. Medium /light gold. Slightly viscous. On the richer end of spectrum. Dried citrus, spice, not a ton of cut left. Not quite as persistent and long as the last time a tried this. But a very fine bottle nonetheless. Drink. — 7 years ago
Tastes of fresh cut apple and pineapple with aromas of orchard fruit, white grapes, caramel, honey, and white flowers overlaid with limey minerals. — 8 years ago

Nose has dried strawberry, dry-crushed granite, rose and cut tangerine.
Palate is under-ripe strawberry, dried tangerine peel, wet minerals with a medium length finish, decent acidity.
Not the same as the 2016, seems lesser or closed up a little. Still a few bottles in the cellar, we'll power through them before the end of Summer. — 5 years ago
Pale yellow. Tart, with grapefruit, fresh cut grass, minerals. — 7 years ago

No new notes, we adore this wine, drinking it by the case; it really sings when 3-4Y past vintage.
Nose has cherry skin, mashed strawberry and green melon.
Palate has fresh cut strawberry, orange zest and a chalky minerality. Medium length finish, great acid levels, touch of sweetness. $14.40!
A fun wine for an almost 80°F day in the Berkshires, atypical for early April. — 4 years ago
