This...this is cognac. — 9 years ago
Went to a Pierre Fernrand tasting, sampled sa 72' vintage and some of their other cognacs but they're one the more reasonable priced cognacs compared to the big name brands like Hennessy. Good stuff. — 9 years ago
Ramisco varietal, borne in a sand terroir of Portugal region beginning to be overrun by hotels. It simply has become a favorite wine quickly; not cheap( about 40$ & up, usually they are 500ml bottles), gains in intensity with air. Fine grained tannins, wild red berries, lithe acidity. Low alcohol & has the rep for long range storage. God, I love this stuff. Very rare wine too, which of course adds to the allure. — 6 years ago
Very rounded, with a complex mix of floral fruit and minerality. To my mind much better than their “La Borne” Grand Cru Dézaley which seemed a bit hollow in comparison. — 6 years ago
Had this in a Sazerac; smooth, maple syrup on the nose, made the Sazerac smoother than the rye whiskey version. — 7 years ago

At least 15 years of age on this VSOP from a family-owned producer. 40% abv. Very fragrant scotch-like vanilla oak and dried fruit. Complex and spicy finish. Goes well with dates and salted almonds as a digestif. Sipping it neat by a Christmas tree, but it also really wakes up with an ice cube🎄 Not Henny! 🙌 — 6 years ago
I think this is organic or unoaked . It was a bit unusual for a cab. Not sure what critics see in this wine to give a 96 rating.. — 6 years ago
Dark spices: black pepper, cloves, and allspice. Tahitian vanilla. Nice smooth finish. — 8 years ago

Chocolate ganache nose sows lime zest and cedar, vanilla panna cotta, lemon tart, hazelnut, absinthe film, and orange rind across a semi-hot surface that resembles an exotic, forgotten cocktail; tea biscuit, lavender and creme caramel. An olfactory feast that endlessly inspires. Soft and warm palate with herbaceous thyme, chive, cilantro, basil afloat on vanilla-caramel, lemongrass, tea tree oil, bay, lemon zest, lime pith, and candied lemon. Cappuccino and bakers chocolate, spun sugar, dark brown sugar, apple blossom honey, treacle, baklava, pine nut, pecan, and coffee cookie. Most interesting is the layers of cascading flavors maintain their original impact while generously allowing the next to shine seamlessly. I have had this many times sans analysis, without fully appreciating its impeccable composition. A triumph! .
