Has Vermentino fallen out of favour with Italians and is being replaced by a taste for Chardonnay?
Maybe but I don't want to believe it yet.
On hot summer days there is not much more refreshing than a well chilled glass of Vermentino. Chilled is a must - it still has enough oomph in the nose to release its floral essence. Once it comes up to room temp it can be overwhelmingly perfumey IMHO. Good acid balance.
I'm pretty convinced that you can trust anything from Fontori to be a solid choice. — 4 months ago
Another great restaurant value!
PnP. Dark cherries, mint, and touch of tar. Big tannins with a velvet texture. Paired nicely with our variety of Italian cuisine.
The real highlight was after dinner when I randomly scored a Montecristo 80 Anniversario cigar in the elevator up to the room! — 5 months ago
Fantastic pairing with Bistecca Florentine in Florence. Very tannic finish, good body. — 7 months ago

Excellent Italian at Carbone. Let her breathe. — 2 months ago
This is a very punchy, rich wine, likely a blend of Sangiovese with some bordeaux cépages like Cabernet. Actually works very well with rich food and has enough acidity and balance. Not our prime stuff in style but honestly was really good. — 4 months ago
