No bitter taste. Subtle flavor — 9 years ago
Been always want to try la crau. Nose is abit bitter honey, tea smoke, raspberry. On the palate very silky and light and savoury and hint of bitter touch and spice almost like peppery chilli. Leather and abit of cigar box. But still got abit grippy tannin — 5 years ago
Powerful and enticing. This wine shows intense aromas of cherry, red currant, lilac, anise, cured black olive and bitter almond (maybe marzipan?) that carry over to the medium bodied palate. Plenty of acidity, though it gets overshadowed by the astringent tannins. This bottle screams for age and/or food (just a bite of castelvetrano olives brought out the finer floral and herbal notes). We capped the bottle after initial taste to see what happens over the next few days.
Update: what a difference a couple of days makes! (Don't let anyone tell you wine doesn't need to breathe). All the interesting complexities settled into an harmonious composition — 5 years ago
Quintessentially Provencial and substantial - made for a meal, not a pool. I live for that bitter herbal fennel apple note that seems to dance from Marsanne to Mourvèdre. Maybe terroir is a thing.
2017 from Clos Sainte Magdeleine has aromas of anise, fennel, celery seed, and apple seed. It’s rich and viscous with acid and flavors of peach, cantaloupe, and honeydew. — 6 years ago

Funky introduction with subtle tannins. After 2-3 hours of opening, bitter vanilla with nice end tannins and fresh acidity. Nice savoriness. — 9 years ago
Bitter yet sweet — 9 years ago
Amaro from le Marche made since 1868. Very different- no sugar added to this- bitter- shocking at first- but really enjoyable by the 2nd and third sip. The bitterness fades, and u get a mix of herbal/ tree bark/ bitter chocolate/ coffee. Note- this is NOT a coffee flavored drink- just a hint on the finish. Really interesting. — 5 years ago
Pale yellow. Flinty, firm, 'mineral' citrus oil, petrol. Bracing acid, slightly bitter/phenolic, feels very fresh for a 6 year old wine.
Paired w Singapore spiced Mahi Mahi.

Berries and vanilla, lighter feeling, not so bitter — 7 years ago
Blood orange, liquorice , strawberry, violet (?), grilled meat(?!) on the nose. I could spend the evening with my nose upon this glass! What a nose ! Blood orange again on the palate which tends to have this bitter feeling all along the acid backbone. Red fruits around there too. Not as Burgundian and ethereal and precise as the chateau (cdr) in the same vintage but I can feel the lineage here. The finish is long with a bitter salty touch. Wow again. For a 13€ price-tag I could have this any given day. Perhaps one of the best value ever encountered. I can’t wait to open the big big brother fonsalette — 8 years ago
This vintage has come together nicely. Not settled down at all, but stunningly vibrant. Brilliant bright honeyed rust color. Strawberry/herbs/hay on the nose. Waves of acid-laced fruit on the palate with a powerful bitter herbal finish. This cries out for garlic toast and anchoïade. — 9 years ago

Not as sweet as Averno but not bitter either. Nice over ice or as a substitute for vermouth in a Manhattan — 5 years ago
