1989 vintage was well cared for and was spectacular. Very smooth with wonderful aromas — 5 years ago
Perfectly aged in large format bottle. Tannins have held up over time but don't overwhelm. Aromas: dried roses, burnt blackberry. Flavors: currant, dried cranberry, juniper. Beautiful wine. Once in a lifetime opportunity to taste it! — 8 years ago
Still tight. Need to open ahead or decant. Aromas of cedar and graphite. Strong red fruit. Delicious with good finish. — 9 years ago
A 2009 had nice dried plum, cherry and cigar box, graphite, aromas. Tannins still a little heavy but smooth texture and lingering finish. — 10 years ago
Musky aromas of saddle and earth. Flavors of sweet tobacco, cumin, cardamom, hazelnuts, dusty red cherry and tea leaf. Medium acidity, medium (-) tannin and body, silky texture and moderate lengthy finish. Could go another 5 years. — 10 years ago
Tried this 4 years ago! Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits and complex spice. On the palate flavors of ripe concentrated blackberry, cherry and currants, still fresh and vibrant with a great mouthfeel, well balanced. Tannins were soft and full, long finish ending with cigar box spice, cedar and cacao. An elegant wine, developing nicely, great drinking now and will continue to develop through next decade. Wow! — 5 years ago
Medium ruby red core with bricking at the rim. Complex aromas of dark berries, flowers, tobacco, truffles, and earth. Round and elegant in the mouth with soft tannins and good persistence. Has definitely entered its mature phase but with plenty of pleasurable drinking ahead. A second wine from one of Bordeaux’s “super seconds”. 13% ABV. — 7 years ago
Went out to dinner and saw this on the wine list and was hard to look elsewhere. In southern Burgundy, at the northern border of Beaujolais, lies the Pouilly-Fuisse appellation. Pale straw with nice gold edges and aromas of citrus and stone fruits with a slight nutty character. On the palate grapefruit and peach flavors with lemon zest notes, showing subtle oak tones. The finish has lively acidity and ends with a touch of minerality. — 7 years ago
Delightfully mature Napa Cab with notes of pencil shavings, tobacco and allspice that play off the still bright cassis and plum fruit aromas. Silky but noticeable tannins frame more spice and earth toned cassis and red cherry fruit. The finish displays a surprisingly elegant yet powerful finish. — 9 years ago
This wine reminds me why i fell in love with wine in the first place. Developed dried fruit and leathery aromas. Cherry and subtle perfectly integrated oak on the palate. Deliberate, careful oxidation adds layers to it. This ultra traditional rioja has the finesse and nuance of a great piece of art. One of my favorite producers — 9 years ago

Medium Ruby with aromas of red fruits, floral and new leather notes. On the palate cherry and plum fruits with tobacco and pepper spice. Firm chewy tannins, savory on a medium+ finish ending with notes of oak, mineral and earthy character. Assessable for a ‘16, drinking well now and will benefit with some age. — 5 years ago
1998 vintage. Wonderful cedar and cigar box aromas rich elegant flavors w long finish. Perfect way to ring in the new year — 6 years ago
Exceptional. Tobacco, leather, blackberry aromas. Big cherry throughout!! Niiiiccee! — 9 years ago
Barnyard worn and matured leather aromas so delicious and intoxicating. Raspberry and soft black berry flavors with an extremely smooth finish, very little acid. So quaffable, but that nose....mmmmmm....not pictured is the 2010 by its side, same kind of thing with a stronger taste to it and just a bit more bright balance. — 10 years ago
2012 vintage. Spice, berry, and mineral driven flavors come together to create a juicy, full bodied wine with well integrated notes of oak. Bright nose with perfumed aromas of blackberry and cherry. Great balance of fruit, oak and tannins. I'll be adding this wine to my rotation. This wine is a real gem for the price and is comparable to pricier Spanish wines in my opinion. Cheers! — 10 years ago

Juicy plum and red berry aromas and flavors. Bright notes of cola and baking spices. Just a hint of Forrest Floor on the silky finish. Very reasonable for such a mass produced wine. — 4 years ago
