Palate: so bright and fresh and clean. The purest cherry juice. A mineral cherry stream. Changes every 15 minutes. Elegant licorice. Cherry silk. Wow.

Les Fichots Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022
Another epic Fichots from Girard. Deep deep mid to late season cherry and glorious spice. Wow the fruit in 22 is so aromatically expressive at the moment. Just gorgeous. Stunning palate with deep deep fruit but also those fierce Fichot tannins. Juicy, silky and sweet but structured and epic. Wow the tannins. This needs mega air but this is a monumental Fichots. Tasting today and still a beast but has that absurd 22 fruit. I’d wait a decade at least. — 4 months ago

Tres Girard Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir 2018
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. No formal notes due to the setting but I’m pleased to report that the 2018 “Très Girard” is positively delightful at this stage of its evolution. Still developing, there is a pleasant mix of dark and red fruit with earth and spice and enough structure to gracefully continue its evolution over the next 10 to 15 years. Les Narbantons Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2023
Killer nose that is deep and resonant. Unreal dark red cherries that border on black. Such purity. Just stunning. Nose is airy and so deep. Sick. Better aromas than 19 Narbantons. Blueberry, flowers, so lush, so deep. Just wonderful. 9.6 nose. Palate has insane energy and just absurd fruit. Sapid, energetic and so concentrated. Wow this is so good. The depth is off the charts and the tannins cut like a saber but remain velvety and sweet. What a wine. Stunning depth and freshness and red/blue/black fruits. My god the tannins on 23 Girards are stunning. This is a remarkable year for Girard. Unreal wine. — 5 months ago

22’s having a moment now. This has glorious texture and mouthfeel and just takes over your palate with clear fruit and lovely spice. Out of the gates it’s raging. We will see if it closes up. As this opened the nose had dizzying spice and gorgeous, clear black cherry fruit. Unreal fruit density and sapidity. So close to a 9.5. — a month ago
