Fruity first. But later on, aged capability was shown. Concentration, early, complexity. But Elegancy. Cabernet Sauvignon, Aged, 06 Vineyard 7, from Spring Mountain District 06 @16500, Vinos - Vin, -250306 — 7 months ago
2003 vintage. Wow this wine is singing! Gotta be right in its prime now. Soft silky tannins but still with just a bit of an edge. Blue fruit and cassis galore. So we’ll integrated and structured. Getting hints of tertiary flavors of leather and tobacco. Medium plus finish. Great luscious mouthfeel. — 3 years ago
It’s been 16 months since last bottle of this Gargiulo G Major 7. One of my early Napa favorites. Fruit is ripe and bountiful, dark red and black. Very nicely balanced, acidity is very much holding its own, tannins are soft yet still structured. Gravely, vanilla, licorice, pencil shavings. Nice finish. Opens up nicely in the glass. — 6 months ago
Wow, just wow.
Part of the blend comes from vines planted in 1923, another part from vines planted in the 50s—specially from a parcel comprised of all 7 varieties (supposedly more). Exquisitely light and balanced but with dozens of really interesting flavors — mandarin orange, pipe tobacco, sandalwood, flint, golden and red apple, marzipan, vanilla along with the usual melange of berries and chalk. It’s all about the poise, finesse and structure on this one though—like a gymnast nailing a dismount. Also, not bad with jalapeño poppers (or “muncher peppers” as they’re called on the Glue Pot’s English menu). — 2 years ago
Oldest Gamay vines in the US. Wild raspberry, pink peppercorns, juicy cranberries. I can get down with this! All day, err day! — 4 years ago
1989 vintage. From magnum. Nice fill and cork better than expected. Not decanted and first tasted after 7 (seven!!) hours after opening. Talk about task saturation...Light body with some brickish notes but back end concentration along with dark cherry and plum notes fronting earth + tobacco histories. Good length of finish. Drink whatever format ya got cuz it's definitely time unless you like playing wine pathologist and reconstituting tissue/flavors to flesh out what once was and rebuilding around the existing skeleton. Eminently doable as long as you're intimately familiar with the producer/wine, have previously tasted the wine and have really good notes/memory. 05.11.25. — 5 months ago
2018 vintage.

Crisp and dry with bracing acidity and minerality on the finish.
All hand picked fruit and whole bunch pressed.
Spends 4 months on the lees then aged 2 years in bottle before release.
This wine is built for long term aging.

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Deep purple in color with a wide reddish rim.
Pretty nose with flower notes and chocolates.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, blueberries, blackberries, tobacco, chocolates, light oak, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and cherries.
This 11 year old Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla Valley is drinking beautifully now. Complex and fruit forward. Elegant and rich. Spicy and entertaining.
