I have always loved this vintage of LMHB & have consumed more than 5 cases in the last 4 years. Soaring aromatics of black fruits, cedar, leather, soy, iron, black olive, tobacco, mineral & violets. Fully mature & holding in its prime drinking window. Groups favorite with 4 1st place votes. — 9 years ago
This is the 2nd for Chateau Montrose which is 2nd class in Bordeaux. I tasted this one to compare with 2008. Color is same, deep red violet color, but a bit deeper, not raspberry nose, it should be pepper like flavor, taste is black fruits like. It has robust structure, body is also different close to full, then felt more tannin, to make me feel its potential. The degree of perfection for the balance is much higher. This is completely different from 2008. But, later, I realized the ratio is different, Merlot82/CS18 to CS65/Merlot25/CF8 for 08, bcs lots of CS were used for 1st label. @2300, Winona, 170121-170126 — 9 years ago

My 1st perfect score of 2015. This was magical stuff worthy of all the descriptive writing that come with the rating. So I'll save those reading it the time. Take a moment out of your day, and sit down and crack one of these open with somebody you love. You will enjoy what is prob one of the best bottles of Bordeaux you can drink right now. When this is showing well it's amazing. 100pts — 11 years ago

24 years old and should drink well for another 10 - 1st commercial release — 11 years ago
Double trouble. 1st bottle getting there, with some fruit still intact and a campfire, underbrush character, while 2nd was grippy and totally in denial about its age, basically the Madonna of wines. Both had tons of Asian spices (ginger, curry, cola). 💖 — 11 years ago
So smooth, probably not as complex/long as the 1st line. But sooo good. — 13 years ago

Second time trying this '66, it's better than the 1st, such an amazing combination of fruit intensity & development, aromatic complexity for days, & when open for an hour so much purity of darker berried fruit, seriously outstanding wine. — 9 years ago

Opened, took a small taste, after a swirl in the stem. Surprise! it seemed a little thin & woody. Decanted for a hour MUCH Better and just continued to evolve in the stem, each sip better than the last! This wine is still young and vibrant. The tannins are integrating nicely. I truly believe this wine can compete with 1st growths. Well done Phelps!!! What a way to end a week & begin a weekend, now I need something to compete tonight, Colgin? — 10 years ago
85 Sangiovese 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet franc 1971 was the first vintage had Trebbiano and Malvasia but still did not pass the the chianti docg test pierro took over in 1966 when he was 28 years old Giacomo tachas was the winemaker and sassicaia was run by pierros uncle and they brought Cabernet Sauvignon from lafite they consulted to bring Cabernet to the chianti region specifically the tignanello vineyard 72, 73, and 74 were not made. This is a very forward and seductive released on April 1st — 11 years ago
This was the groups WOTN against some pretty stiff competition. 59 Leroy GE, 82 LMHB, 82 Pichon Lalande & 80 La Mouline.
This is a very underrated vintage for LaTache as it is still showing tight and firm when 1st opened but really starts opening up after 30 min of air. Very aromatic and complex with red fruits, Asian spice, dried rose petal, game bird displaying power with elegance and finesse. Always a treat to drink a fully mature LaTache that is just reaching its peak drinking window. — 11 years ago
