I don't know why I read other people's reviews when I'm posting. I think everyone who's commented on this wine have never had Pinot Grigio. I know that sounds demeaning ☹️
This wine is solid. Vibrant and acidic, with green apple, pear, and almond flavors. Gets better as it warms up.
And just so you know, I like the Ruffino better 😜

The weather's a bit muggy but I grabbed a red anyway. This is light and uplifting! Ripe raspberries, a little spice, lightly floral. Big tannins, I feel like I'm drinking it 5 years early. Very enjoyable!

I grabbed this on the recommendation of @Sharon B
I would have thought this was reisling blind, due to a wee bit of rubber on the nose. I taste peach, pear, and macaroons. It's sweet. Most reviewers use the word "crisp", but this is neither crisp nor overly acidic. It's soft, and a bit flabby. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that.
Very enjoyable! Makes me want risotto for dinner.

Oh well I guess you did say enjoyable! When you said flabby and rubbery I thought you didn’t like it.
Dave

Dave

Nope, I gave it a 9 😊 I like a bit of rubber on the nose of white wines, it's character. And flabby is just the mouthfeel, neither bad nor good. I drank this expecting it to be Pinot Grigio-esque but I think it's Trebbiano? Naw, it was a very good recommendation. I'd do it again 😀 Cheers to you! @Sharon B

I had this a few months ago, and grabbed another because it's very good. Decanter says 94 points, which is too generous, but it's a solid Rioja.

Old standby. I guess i haven't written about the 2022. This wine is softer than previous bottlings. Typical Sangiovese flavors, though the tiny bit of Cabernet Franc is apparent. Cherry, sweet tobacco, a bit heavy on florals, lower tannins but a lingering finish.

After a 1 hour decant, silky and luxurious fruit reared its head. Cherries, plums, blueberries, spice, vanilla and dusty tannins. Delicious.
Additional note: a tertiary flavor eluded me until the 2nd day. It's miso.

This is not bourbon, it's rye.
Most 1792 offerings are very average, with a couple exceptions. This is a bottle that you don't see in the wild very often, and it is phenomenal! If you're a rye person, this checks all the boxes. Classic rye notes, flavors, mouthfeel and burn.

This is "Plenum" Costa Toscana by Tenuta Le Colonne, 2021.
I bought this to pair with my favorite pizza, and it really clashed. Too much dried mint taste. Came back to it after dinner and it very pleasant. We've got flavors of dark berries, cherry syrup, mint, tobacco, and a little bitter orange at the end. Plenty tannic. I'd try it again with a cheese board or maybe a pork dish.

I think (could be wrong) that this is a Bolghieri based winery, which might mean Cabernet (Sauvignon or Franc) or Merlot based wines, which could explain the clash. I never have Cab or PN with anything with a tomato sauce. But, as I said, I don’t know the composition of this wine.
Dave

Dave

Yes, you're right @Tom Casagrande I bought this thinking it was a Sangiovese blend. Dumdum!
