I’m not quite as effusive as @Lyle Fass but this was indeed gorgeous - step above their straight Spatburgunder w/tons of personality. I was really taken w/perfumed nose and earth driven elements. Yeah there’s gobs of decadent cherry, raspberry & strawberry, but the brambly herbal spice elements are downright sexy. It’s all about complexity & generosity not to mention balance & elegance. — 6 months ago

1999 Screaming Eagle. Wolf w J&L B and J&J D. Such a treat. Drank this first of the reds and it was spectacular. Massive and still young, as to be expected, but still so balanced and with that wonderful mouth-coating velvety texture. Huge oak, vanilla, spice, and some acidity as well. Really complex and hard to distinguish all the different things going on. We all really, really enjoyed this wine and it was drinking wonderfully despite its youth. Thumbs up. — 9 years ago

Ridiculous! Such a mineral presence carrying apples& pears with it. Mouth filling, spicy, yet svelte.
It’s an interesting pairing on Mozart’s birthday, pork chops w red molé and pomegranates. Works very nicely!
