Super Tuscan with depth and dimension. Easy to drink and a little on the lighter side while still showing complexity of the 5 or 6 varietals blended together seamlessly. — 8 years ago

2007 Saxum James Berry Vineyard Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah blend. 15.8% alcohol. Dark as midnight with a ruby rim. The nose positively leaps from the glass with anise, violets, creme de cassis, crushed berries and a hint of spearmint. On the palate, sweet, candied raspberry syrup with notes of cedar, cinnamon, baking spices, vanilla and a hint of black olives. Pure and intense with great concentration and wonderful structure. 2 minute finish and then some. The Mourvèdre component raises this wine to another level for me, and highlights the talent of @Justin Smith as a master blender. 99 points with the only impediment to perfection being that '06 SQN "A Shot In The Dark" from last week which still haunts my dreams. — 9 years ago

Best California Sauv Blanc I've had. A bit expensive at approx $32 per bottle, but worth it for a special occasion! — 11 years ago

Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
60% Zinfandel, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, for the 2005 vintage blend. This label features Redhead ducks, which we have commonly seen occupying our beachfront, not this year unfortunately.
Nose has vanilla bean, pipe tobacco, ripe cherry, ripe blackberry, prune (light) and over-ripe plum.
Palate has rich blackberry & cherry, oak plank, chalk (light), dried strawberry, ripe plum and raisin (light).
Beautifully long finish and tannins are long gone; this bottle is at the end of its life, also our last bottle of this vintage. Always interesting to see how long they will hold. The labels have always been a favorite of ours. — 7 years ago

Gordons Čhanin tasting 6/13/17. $32. #2. More restrained nose of more white floral notes and apricots. Lively tension and firm structure on palate with really long finish that's lovely. Limestone and gravel. — 9 years ago
Wonderful wine. Comparable to Von Strasser Cab. Give it time to open up and get rid of the sharp, peppery edges & it will be smooth & round, with a dry finish. — 10 years ago
2012 vintage. Wonderful with food with its light tannins and bright blackberry and blueberry flavors. — 11 years ago
Babe's birthday wine! He loved it. Paired with a 32 oz. tomahawk steak and fresh carbonara. YUM! — 11 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
I found this ‘16 and gave it a try. A blend of 59% Grenache, 32% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 3% Counoise & 1% Vaccarèse, aromas of intense berry fruits and complex spice. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with cedar and vanilla, well balanced. Fine soft tannins, lingering, complex depth, ending with elegant fruit and spice. — 7 years ago
