Founded over 160 years ago, Delas Frères was acquired by Champagne Deutz in 1977. 100% Syrah, aged 16 months in French oak (70% new), aromas of red berry fruits, blossom and complex spice. On the palate black raspberry, fig and black plum flavors, savory with dried herb pepper spice. Fine tannins, great mouthfeel, complex lingering ending with fruit, mineral, floral and spice character. Well balanced, outstanding. — 6 years ago
started with alot of barnyard that then dissapeared and revealed mint and dark fruits as well as cherry and spice. Should have decanted! — 6 years ago
2016 will go down as a very overlooked vintage. It should not be. Beautiful and very pure nose of crushed granite and deep dark berry fruit. Grilled meats and herbs. So pretty. Smokey and floral as well. Palate has terrific richness and wonderful purity while also giving off a smokey bbq inner mouth aromas and loads of white pepper on the finish. Some structure to burn and will last 5-8 more years with improvement, but drinking well now. — 7 years ago
Rich and savory, smelling of seaweed, must, and dark preserves with burnt sugar or caramel. There's an olivey savoriness on the palate that signals Syrah, along with some cured meat and pepper. Opens up with more jammy berry flavors after 30 minutes, with a nice kiss of oak. Old world meets New World feel going on here. Ripe and giving for days on the palate with lots of umami and sweet. — 9 years ago
Still very youthful, pure and bright. Touch of grippy stem tannin. Wonderful. — 10 years ago
Waxy, nutty, honeyed fruits - rich & complex. 2010 and plenty of life left. — 11 years ago
Fresh-no sugar- blueberry pie of a nose.
Well crafted, heavier bodied wine, unified berry blend, blue and black fruits working together in unison, a harmonic balance. Iodine and gravel carried this wine to the inevitable end - of high acid and new barrel like tannins.
Absolutely Lovely. A bit young, sometimes I cannot help myself. — 5 years ago
Pronounced rich aromas of ripe dark fruits and spices. On the palate ripe cherry and plum with rustic spices and some tea notes. Fine ripe tannins, with slight grippy edge, hints of oak on medium+ finish ending with fruit and slight mineral edge. Nice Hermitage. Nice! — 6 years ago
A little zippy with the carbonation, super balance of savory notes with mostly cherry fruit. Sip on a hot summer day on its own or enjoy on a cool night with roast chicken. Best served slightly cool. — 6 years ago
Bessards-Meal (L09223, gold capsule). Getting meaty, but still forward with fresh violets and ripe black cherry and blackberry. Pungent rooibos and black pepper. Subdued oak bridges the spicy sweetness to the earthy, animal character. Deeply colored, youthful and vivacious, the tannins are starting to relax but promise a decade or two more of cellar potential. Paired with Tannhauser. — 8 years ago
Great for the price. Complex, medium finish. Lots of red fruit — 9 years ago

1997. A great year for birthday of our son ! — 7 years ago
Sneaky ripe for an Hermitage. A lot of fruit right out of the gate, but as it warms/breathes...The classic tar, meat and leather starts to emerge. What a wine — 8 years ago
Kids down - Exploring French wine with Jen out of town! Muted nose of blueberries and currants. Gamey taste with notes of anise and cherries. Nice mouthfeel if a bit one-note. — 8 years ago
A classic mild spice, medium tannins, med body... All kinds of medium! — 9 years ago
Nearing end of life, some honey — 10 years ago

Fresh, plenty of spice/black pepper, dried currants and dark raspberry. Liked this a lot and had forgotten how good this wine is. — 4 years ago
