Montmains Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Well-known #chablis producer. Characteristic lemon, white fruit nose. More concentrated palate with length and some interesting spicy notes to finish from the partial oak aging. Lovely wine. — 7 months ago

Saint-Bris Sauvignon 2017

Dinner with friends, prior notes still apply.

A Burgundy bin end theme for my bottles tonight, all are the last stock of the wines that have given us great pleasure in the prior 12-18mo. They will be missed, but not forgotten, new vintages will come eventually. 🤩

La Maladière Chablis Chardonnay 2015

Consistently solid fairly inexpensive Chablis that has good tension and an attractive acidity and hints of lemon. Served at a friend's rehearsal dinner. Decent choice. — 7 years ago

"Côte Bouguerots" Bougros Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

I think this might be my favorite Fevre wine, even more Les Clos and Preuses. Distinctly Chablis, but I get some stone fruit and honeysuckle. So good — 7 months ago

Saarloos Vineyard Grenache Blanc 2014

William bottles one of the best Grenache Blanc world-wide. Brine and dried green herbs on the nose. The herbs carry to the palate with flavors of melon and Asian pear. — 7 years ago

Sangiacomo Family Vineyards Chardonnay 2015

Waited to get home to try this one. The last bottle was corked. This bottle, not nearly so much! After the last bottle was corked, this bottle was opened the next night. Poured a light straw color. Nose of lemon and herbed buttered popcorn. The entry was acidic and dominated by lemon and Asian pear. Middle of this wine is where the buttered popcorn and kernel notes kicked in. The wine finishes rather acidic, but with good weight and density. I still think this one has quite a few years left in it. The next one to drink is the last 2013 for sure. Drink or hold this one another 3 to 5 years. — 7 years ago

@Hugh O'Riordan agreed! Their Cabernet Franc tends to be our favorite, however their straight Cabernet Sauvignon with seven or eight years of age will really blow you away. My wife calls them the best kept secret in Rutherford, even though they are right off the Silverado Trail! :-)
