Let’s see if we have better luck with this bottle. Brought the last bottle back to Astor and they assessed it and said that it was indeed corked.

Cranberries, raspberries, and red fruits, with a note of spindrift from a fresh ocean wave. The breeze of a redwood forest sways through.

Yes. Much better luck. The ever so slight undercurrent of carmelized dark cherries. Beautiful tannic structure. Crunchy and expanding on the palate. A bouncy wine with a bunch of character but also an understated power, boldness, and spice.

This is what it’s supposed to taste like.

Consider this a collective note on the '67 Barolo vintage...having tasted through about fifteen, most were fading or already past it. Burlotto, Prunotto, and Vietti were all wonderful and G. Rinaldi could legitimately go another decade, but in general, drink 'em if ya got 'em! — 8 years ago

@Ira Schwartz Nope not this time (there was one Barbaresco) but I do remember having some '67 alto Piemonte and it was very good; can't remember if it was Vallana or somebody else like Nervi, Antoniolo, Travaglini etc. I feel like older AP can be a better risk/reward in terms of holding up than Barolo/Barbaresco which is usually much more expensive

Vibrant purple red with magenta pink mousse. Berry bubble gum nose. Sweet and creamy on the bubbly palate, though not as sweet as the nose leads one to expect. Just enough acidity to balance and make it refreshing. A nice low-alcohol treat for summer dipping, it'll also make a great pairing with spicy fare like Buffalo wings or Fra Diavolo pasta. Made by F. Rinaldi. Label looked new and a good fill, but the cork was showing the age. Nice color. This showed young, might have guessed 90s rather than early 70s. Very nice showing. — 8 years ago
