Great dry champagne — 5 years ago
2016 vintage. While this estate has been in the hands of the same family since 1858, it is under the reigns of current owner Eduard Miailhe that Siran is showing its true potential. The vineyards are situated in Labarde, the Southern part of the Margaux appellation, surrounded by Crus Classés Dauzac, Prieuré- Lichine and Giscours. 2016 was the first vintage made by oenologist Marjolaine Defrance, with Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus) as consultant since 2014. It's a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, aged for 12 months in French barriques (35% new). Obviously it's way too young to show its full potential, but it is a terrific effort, undoubtedly at Cru Classé level. Concentrated black fruit (cassis, cherries, blackberries), violets, licorice and a subtle touch of cedar wood. It displays classic Margaux elegance, complexity, impeccable balance and considerable length. At only 28 euros this is one of the finest values in Margaux that should drink well over the next 20 to 30 years. — 5 years ago
46% Cabernet franc, 27% merlot, 14%petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon. This, despite the high content of cab franc, is quite light. Acidity is up front with the first flavors of plums, oranges, and cherries. Slight notes of oak follow and a bright finish. Easy to drink. — 6 years ago
Delicious. 46% Syrah. 38% Cab. — 7 years ago
Deep ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Fruity nose with blueberries, raspberries, sweet cherries, earth, vanilla, wood, licorice, vegetables, pencil lead, wet leaves, black tea, dark coffee, tobacco leaf, spices and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currants, black plums, oak, vanilla, licorice, herbs, vegetables, spices, peppercorn, tobacco, dark chocolates, beef jerky, earth and cola.
Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very enjoyable Rhone blend from Russian River Valley in California. Spicy and fruity with lots of earth notes that makes it interesting.
Nicely balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Feels like a blend of Old and New World wine, which is always engaging and pleasant to drink.
Drinking very nicely now, as a five-year-old, and will age nicely in the next 5 years. I really enjoyed the tangy ending.
Good by itself or with food, and needs an hour to open up properly.
After 2 hours of airtime, the nose really opened up and it was so nice to smell on it for a while.
A blend of 58% Grenache 22% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 2% Petite Sirah. A small production of only 315 cases produced.
I paired it with Brie cheese and roasted almonds.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

I loved this. It compares to many Niagara desert ice wines I’ve had. There is a biting acidity that shows through the sweetness. Lovely after dinner. — 5 years ago
See many previous notes. Holding up comfortably from this excellent cooler vintage . 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Shiraz. I am lucky to have 6 bottles left from back in the day when I bought 2 dozen. Definitely drinking on the plateau and will carry on for a while yet. Medium weight palate but with great length and persistence. Will probably consume the rest over the next 3 to 4 years. Penfolds 2020 collection (17 wines)just released in Australia. The 2018 Bin 389 received 96 points from Halliday. The 2016 Grange is being talked about as one of the greats - 99 points from Halliday. — 6 years ago

Pretty rye with elegance and s finesse finish. Medium bodied and very floral overall, with a range of blooms from lily to rose to orchid to violet and cherry blossom. Very lean and racy, with a dancer’s spirit, flowing effortlessly for a rye of this age. Lacks the signature spice expected, but has a fine tobacco sweetness throughout and a dark raisin streak. — 7 years ago
Absolutely delicious with lots of dark fruit. I bought it because it was from Paso Robles and it does not disappoint! Will definitely buy again. Ava (our 4 year old granddaughter) is spending the night and we’re watching Monster House, so that’s what it’s being paired with! Plus I need a good one when she’s over for the night!!!! — 4 years ago

Color of ruby with grapefruit and purple tone on the rim, quite clear. Nose of immense cherry, spice, fermented cabbages, and strength of alcohol. Taste of warmth, a bit watery, spice, black pepper, subtle sweetness and acidity from dark fruits, and some more black pepper. Aftertaste shows some zesty note, soft tannins, and a bit medicinal note. — 6 years ago
Said to be an element of oldest and rarest stock (35 to 40 yrs) stock of the distillery - chocolate raisins orange nose, butter pudding Carmel, lime, cashew, spice favor with dried floral finished. So rich like having a toffee, so delicious! — 7 years ago
