A charming left bank blend with a high percentage of CF for 15’. Blueberry, cassis, espresso, dried herbs, and lavender. Hint of crushed rocks too. Medium to full body. A harmonious palate with round gentle acidity, lush texture, and grainy yet polished firm elegant tannins. Lingering lightly candied finish.
Finesse and classy, yet so approachable. — 5 years ago
2020 spring. Calderara Sottana is on the north side of Etna and better known for reds. This was really nice, with lots of flowers and almonds, and a salt / acid backbone. Again, no petrol - again perhaps because of youth. I’d be curious to see how this ages compared to Pietramarina or A’Puddara — 5 years ago
Amazing fresh fruit with violets, punchy red fruit with a lifted cherry quality. Very supple and dynamic with zesty delicious fruit. Excellent — 7 years ago
Fig, butterscotch, banana, cognac & alcohol dominate the nose. This wine is a monster. So intense and vibrant. Like it could not wait to be freed from the bottle. Nice tannins and acid. Flavors of biscuit, rhubarb & ripened light fruit. This wine makes you happy to love wine. Very fortunate to come across this bottle. 2006 vintage

From magnum. Initially quite linear and more of an aperitif with bright citrus and apple notes with lovely acidity. After 90 minutes however, this became a much more gastronomic champagne with pineapple and powerful autolytic notes of toasted brioche and almonds. It was awesome and a reserved my last pour to sip on until the very end. From the bottle inscription, this looked to be disgorged 6/11/2019 — 2 years ago
Nose - pineapple, lemon zest, vanilla. Taste - citrus fruit and great vanilla flavor, little bit of caramel. Full bodied, with a good balance. Really good! — 5 years ago
Great wine alone without a meal. Every day drinking. — 6 years ago
I've always liked Vietti's labels and the Barbera d'Asti Tre Vigne is a delightful departure from their usual illustrations from nature. Unlike the label art of a mask, and indeed of the mask from the El Gato Chimney painting behind, nothing is being hidden here. Overt and plummy and floral too, this 2010 reminds me why I love the vintage and how Barbera with a bit of age can be an utter delight. — 8 years ago
Jordy’s bday! Silky, smooth with a sweet finish — 4 years ago
Probably the best munjebel I’ve ever had. Just an outrageously perfumed and gorgeous nose. It has an earthy texture and high wire grace and tension that frame up the ripeness wonderfully. But honestly I’d be happy just smelling it; the bouquet is a complete sentence — 5 years ago
A model of finesse and understatement, the 2008 Barolo Le Vigne is every bit as thrilling as it has always been. At nearly 10 years of age, the 2008 is still bright, precise and very fresh. Sweet red cherry, rose petal and mint notes are beautifully sketched in a Barolo that is pure and total class. In 2008, vineyard sources are Vignane, Merli, Ceretta and Conterni.
