Simply fantastic. Picked this up in their shop in CNdP in the summer and it has been aged perfectly. Completely integrated and tonight singing as if its life depended on it! Dark brooding fruits with leather. Slight mushroom taste at the end. So impressive and went excellently with the slow cooked Spaghetti Bolognese — 4 months ago
heavy pencil shavings and cigar smoke on the nose. black olive and green bell pepper too. color is definitely what you’d expect in a 20 year old wine. palate is consistent with nose, very bordeaux-lite. heavy cigar box. a lot of olive and herb tapenade character. some black pepper on the finish too. very savory overall. — 2 months ago
Whoa...to my palate, these are drinking way better than they were upon release. Three years ago, I thought they drank okay...but seemed a little disjointed and wasn't really sure where it was going. This is in contrast to almost every vintage in the last 10 years which seemed to be very obvious where each were headed. Well, everything has come together really nicely and I think these are banging right now. This is a more round version of Produttori's "classico" with the 2015 vintage no-doubt contributing to its fleshiness. The acid and tannin you want and expect are well represented. A wonderfully balanced wine. I only swooped up one of the Riserva's (Montestefano) when they were released and sort of wonder if I overlooked 2015. Oh well, gonna enjoy what I have! Drink now (no decant) and through the next 10-15 years, no cap. An absolutely killer pairing with Morgan Ranch Wagyu Picanha... — 3 months ago
Good memories from Haro! Had this with steak in New York. Color is deep ruby. Nose is red fruit (strawberry) vanilla tobacco leather. Strawberry floral cream. Taste of the same with pepper. Needed some time to open up - but eventually got this beautiful long spicy finish! — 4 months ago
Way too young… but fully enjoyable at this stage. Not much nose… green apple and pear… wonderful balance! Wondering where this will go , but a joy with halibut and salmon in a state where laws make drinking problematic. Assume this will close up like a sea turtle, but lots of pleasure already. Look for a competitive price… but stock up. — 2 months ago
Magnum, good color in the glass, fully resolved but drinking well with medium finish — 4 months ago
Impressive for a 14 year old Cali Pinot. Shows the strength of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation for sure. Stored in sub optimal conditions but has held onto the fruit (cherries, raspberries) and has the faintest hint of secondary aromas and flavors (cedar). Chicken soup for dinner and it paired wonderfully. What is it about chicken fat and Pinot that works so well? — 5 months ago

1982 vintage. Wow. Where to begin? Decanted with the cork holding up extremely well (used a Durand). Throwing an absolute ton of sed so took about 4 minutes to decant properly. Plenty of color. Tasted 2 hrs, 3 hrs and 4 hrs after decant. Nose a little reticent the first foray but plenty of damp earth, elderberry showing up later. Then the graphite came in huge along with lesser, second-hand smoke/tobacco aromas. An addition of a remarkable freshness of both watercress and dill in the last few tastes. Light-medium body. Have tasted a few tired, big-boy '82's. This ain't one of them. This remarkable bottle did nothing to alter my opinion that I'd rather have a bottle of La Mission Haut Brion than any-including (just barely) Château Haut-Brion-first growth in the same vintage. Doesn't get much better and this one has plenty of time remaining. No rush to crush. Thank you, Dermott! 3.12.23 — 8 days ago
