simply stunning wine that led the field in a packed and stacked night. Vosne spice and a great finish that truly fanned out like a peacock's tail--all the DRC superlatives are appropriate with this bottle. Blew the 85 away, as it was surprisingly closed compared to 78. — 10 years ago
The nose on this wine is stunning baring the alcohol heat. Perfumed red florals and candied dark and lighter red fruits. While the wine is truly elegant, the alcohol is seriously burning the back of my throat. The bottle reads 14.1 but I think over 15 degrees. Maybe, they wanted to save on the higher alcohol tax. The wine starts so beautifully only to burn the back of my throat. The fruits are ripe, elegant and beautifully soft. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, raspberries, faint back palate of strawberries, sweet/soft leather, black licorice, violets & roses, rich delicate & sweet wet black earth, soft light baking spices, caramel, milk chocolate, figs & dates, amazingly sweet dark minerals, touch of black tar, touch of spice and a rich long elegant dark fruit liqueur finish. I would score this wine higher if it didn't punish my palate and throat with the burning alcohol finish. — 10 years ago
Gorgeous, complex nose and palate of balsamic and black cherry, with 🍄 and tobacco, licorice, spice and oak. Speaking of oak, it is very well-integrated, supporting the fruit instead of eclipsing it. Perfect weight on the palate, with all of the physiochemical aspects of the wine translating seamlessly into the metaphysical. A truly great wine, and a testament to the 2005 vintage. The only reason I didn't score it higher is because it is still young, with more potential to develop. — 10 years ago
Now we're talking! A vintage lost by following the monumental 1971. This was truly spectacular and one of the most complete wines, not just Burgundy, I've had in awhile. Amazing length, gobs of wet earth and crushed ripe raspberries and black cherries, and that wonderful hint of salinity you get as you swirl the wine across your tongue. — 10 years ago
Truly one of the best Sauvignon Blancs I've ever had. — 12 years ago

Imagine if angels came down to a vineyard, gently plucked each grape, kissed it ever so gently and delicately placed it in a bottle. Then, the bottle is stored in a cellar carved by the Romans and is finally delivered to your pallet -- bringing you this heavenly delight in a glass. This my friends is Dom. It costs a lot for a lot of reasons but you have to have it at least once in your life. Delicate. Smooth. Delicious. Godly. Mythical. Save for the truly special occasions and savor each sip!! — 10 years ago
Thanks Sam for ending our dinner with a fabulous rose champagne! You are truly a rising star sommelier! Nashville is lucky to have you! We enjoyed being with you! — 10 years ago

This wine is showing beautifully at the age of 21, deep gold color, lovely nose full dry apricot, honey, orange peels, dates and a touch of flowers scent, full creamy body, not very sweet with lovely supporting acidity, long finish. A truly delicious dessert wine from a reasonable Sauternes vintage. My score 91, drink to 2021 — 10 years ago
My love for Krug knows no bounds. Bready, yeasty notes jump out of the glass towards you but quickly soften into those of honey butter. Ginger and spice notes. Lees driven but well integrated with medium high acid. This champagne is so complex that it's almost impossible to truly detect where one note of flavor ends and the other begins. — 11 years ago
Subtle with rich aromas of meat, spice and red fruits. Very soft and silky, with youthful almost underripe tannins. The finish is long, truly elegant. The quality of the tannins is beautiful. All the components are in the right place, the prominent tannins indicate, that this wine should be left alone for at least a decade. Special, but comes with a serious price tag. A privilege having had the opportunity to taste it! 3,500 cases made. — 13 years ago
Without a doubt the wine of my life. Elegant, dried cranberries, cigar box, beechnut tobacco, great texture. A truly magnificent bottle. 1/100 that would be perfect. — 9 years ago
A great time at The Capital Grille deserves some great wines. We had a few and ran the Napa gamut. The Insignia was up first and it did not disappoint. They always have a nice complexity of flavors battling it out for attention. One moment it is an early blackberry and the next it is a bright plum. Truly enjoyable. — 10 years ago
This truly is one of the finest red wines ever made. Such heritage, such patience and resilience of a winery in a dire hostile environment . 1995 a classic vintage, tasted 6-28-16. Just thrilling, balanced and sexy. — 10 years ago
Truly delicious. Smooth as can be. — 10 years ago
2001 vintage. Quite fresh and youthful despite the age. Honey and nuts, apricots and cream. On the palate, medium plus acidity and medium alcohol, medium body. Great depth to this wine. Still has a good decade ahead of it. No oxidation whatsoever on this bottle. A truly great example of hermitage Blanc. — 11 years ago
Like a lamb to the slaughter, and also the perfect accompaniment to slaughtered lamb as an Easter treat. Even with a decade+ on it, it felt young. Candied dark red fruit, baking spices, earth and herbs, yet never dried out. Dense, but never weighed down. Beaucastel is wine that truly rewards patience. — 11 years ago
