A very tasty, easy drinking wine. Smooth and fruity! — 5 years ago
Blackberries with hints of cherries, raspberries, and dried strawberries. Also a little bit of herbs, forest floor, and earth. Nicely balanced acidity, low-ish tannins. It’s also a good value (extra point). — 7 years ago

Catching up on my March Issue of Decanter, which, among other things, celebrates the wines of Spain from regions such as Rioja, Toro, Rias Baixas, Alicante, Manchuela, Valencia, and Jumilla. 🍷🍷🍷 This Issue reminds me of how much I have yet to explore in this country. 🇪🇸 It inspired me to have a glass of Rioja made from the Tempranillo and Garnacha (Grenache) grapes.
👁 This wine has a medium ruby hue with garnet rim variation. 👃 It has a medium intensity of developing aromas. 👄 Aroma and flavor notes are concentrated and include black cherry, red currant, plum sauce, violet, black licorice, anise, balsamic vinegar, black olive, sweet tobacco, leather, cedar, nutmeg, vanilla, clove, earth, and peat. This wine has medium acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, and a medium(+) finish. It’s complex; it has finesse.
This wine is from La Rioja Alta, S.A., Viña Ardanza, Reserva 2012, with an ABV of 14.5%. This wine is predominately Tempranillo (78%), coming from 30-year-old vines, which is blended with Garnacha (Grenache) (22%). It has extended American oak aging.
I have tried numerous wines from this producer – La Rioja Alta, S.A. – and have loved them all. — 5 years ago

Drank with Colin and Perrin on their deck during a virtual wine tasting. I absolutely loved this wine, my main takeaway is that the flavor and texture would suit everyone. It’s so so good — 5 years ago

Drank 4/26/18 at a tasting event.
Nose of plums, dark fruits, and sweet tobacco notes.
Juicy black fruits, with plums and blackberry mixes with earth, leather, and tobacco. Well integrated, medium tannins. Very nice. Open now, but should age nicely for several years as well.

Bought in 2005 at the bargain price of $22. I’d been saving it. Worth the wait. It was absolutely delicious, old school, refined, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at its peak. If I could only drink one wine for the rest of my life, this would be it (assuming availability). — 5 years ago
Time for a good Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Here's a delicious one from Washington State.
Deep purple in color with a short purplish rim.
Nose of black plums, cedar, chocolates, coffee, cooked cherries, leather, light vegetables, earth, licorice, black tea, tobacco and black pepper.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cherries, chocolates, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very tasty Merlot from Columbia Valley. Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel. Another delicious wine from Michel Rolland.
Still young, but already tasty. Drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.
Good by itself or with food. Good right out of the bottle, but better after an hour of airtime, as the complexity comes in. Showing nice complexity already.
Wine Enthusiast 89 points.
Tangy and interesting. A Delicious wine.
A blend of 75% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in (85% new) French Oak barrels.
14.9% alcohol by volume.

We had the 2013 Vintage on 2/21-22/20. Bright red fruit on the bouquet. Tart cherry, strawberry and pomegranate on the palate. Bright and acidic. Good but not great. — 6 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
A blend of 50% Malbec, 22% Merlot, 22% Cab Sauv & 6% Cab Franc, aged in French oak 50/50 new & 1 year old, combining fruit from Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, earthy and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and tart cherry flavors, with vanilla, licorice, citrus and herb spice. Fine tannins, well balanced long finish ending with tart fruit and a sweet earthy mineral character. Nice! A Fav! — 4 years ago
