Wow. Amazingly wonderful- still - at 17 years young. Tannins and fruits still doing their jobs in harmony. An excellent example of this varietal -done by this legendary producer. — 4 years ago

Fridays are for Franc! And I. LOVE. THIS. WINE. I could not believe the aromatics that exploded from the bottle when I pulled the cork. Seriously it was like there was a blueberry pie baking in the kitchen. Decanted for an hour or so. Deep magenta in the glass. Loads of Cherry and blueberry on the palate mingle with vanilla, chocolate, herbs, and earth - very rich, but so incredibly balanced at the same time. I’ve been a longtime fan of Detert wines and this very well may be my favorite vintage of their Franc to date. I’m just wowed. Can’t wait to revisit this again and see how it evolves. Really well done @Tom Garrett (as always). — 8 years ago

Medium ruby in color; black cherries, plums, and cedar on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium tannins, but smooth; tastes like blackberries, cherries, and a hint of bell pepper witha long finish. Not as complex as I would like, but pretty good. — 3 years ago
From the Mornington Peninsula (although the fruit for this Pinot Noir came from the Yarra Valley ) - this is Tom Carson’s personal project when he’s not making wine for Yabby Lake - his main job. This had strawberry and other red fruits like cherry and a small whole bunch influence. Oak is dialled right back. A medium weight palate that is yet to show its full potential. First of 3 purchased and somewhat closed. Will leave having the 2nd for a couple of years. — 5 years ago

Very well balance Cab that has just the right blend of fruit forward and some tannins in the back end. I enjoyed this wine very much but not as much as watching the Mets with Tom As a pitcher, that was priceless.
I will look to acquire more of this wine since it has a few years still. — 8 years ago

Founded 1972, Tom & Sally Jordan, from CO, went to CA’s wine country & produced inaugural vintage in 1976. A Fav of mine with a steak, and the ‘17 hits the mark! Blend of mostly Cab Sauv with Merlot, Petit Verdot & Malbec. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit, floral & spice. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, sweet spice, leather & cacao notes. Rich tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit & oak. Very Nice! — 4 years ago
Mid Ruby in colour. Red fruits of cherry and strawberry with a bit of whole bunch influence on the nose. The palate showing savoury red fruits but also a little sweetness. Certainly a good future in front of it - I should try the next one in 1 to 2 years time. Tom Carson has probably never made a bad wine in his life and he has a great terroir to work with when he is not in demand for judging at Royal Shows. Tasted another bottle 65 weeks later on 24th July 2022. Quite red cherry on the nose and palate. Sooty notes from whole bunch in the ferment. The perfect balance between sweet and savoury. — 5 years ago

Surprisingly flavorful for a Sauvignon Blanc — 8 years ago
Very approachable. Evolution of this bottle was over a 4 hour decant. First taste at opening, was tight dense gorgeous fruit, cassis, cigar, stone, and crisp Howell air. Second taste an hour later was bigger, bold, strong ruby fruit, less cigar but tobacco was still there. The fruit became longer on the finish and the density was so sexy. Taste like how you encounter sexiness tasting. Rudy, Tom, Michael and Red Cap Fam doing it really really well! — 8 years ago
Barnyard funk nose. Dark cherry, vanilla, spice and minerals on the palate. Moderate tannins and acid in the finish. — 9 years ago
