Textbook, classic Vouvray from one of the most classic, storied estates in the appellation. Walks a perfect tightrope between rich, waxy density and nimble freshness. This is what I'd use to show someone new to the Loire what high-quality, classic dry Loire Chenin is supposed to taste like. These 2014 Huet secs are really banging on all cylinders. Pours a medium (-)/medium intensity yellow gold hue. Highly concentrated nose of ripe, slightly oxidized green apple and apricot, smoky, crushed flint minerality, fresh lychee, waxy honeycomb, wet wool, and some savory aged cheese rind leesiness. On the palate, (slightly less) ripe, waxy stone fruit, slightly oxidized Anjou pear juice, raw honey, wet stone, savory leesiness, and lychee. High acid, medium (-)/medium body with lovely lush leesy texture. Alcohol is medium/medium (+) but totally in balance and not hot at all on the palate. Dry but not what something I'd describe as "bone dry" though. Has a long life ahead of it if you want to cellar it, but still so tasty and generous enough in its youth as well. Really satisfying , electric stuff. 🍏🍐🍑🍯⚡️ — 8 years ago
nose gives olive oil, garrigue, jammy plums and cherries, sawdust, a little dried mint, charcuterie...this is opulent. beautiful tightrope between rich fruit and earthy garrigue. — 8 years ago
Just stellar. Vanilla, wet earth, fallen fruit. Balance of a tightrope walker. 🔥 — 8 years ago
Hallelujah! These past few bottles of Aligoté continue to hit the sweet spot for acid, the tightrope walk between reduction / oxidation, minerality, and expression of vintage. Solid and oh so pure — 8 years ago
My new favourite Rose! Delicious! — 8 years ago
Light and fruity, off-dry, balanced and easy to drink. Pinot gris isn't always my thing but this one hits the mark nicely. — 8 years ago
Best Pinot Gris we've found. Full of flavour and the right amount of sweet. Almost syrupy texture. Amazing. Tightrope and Gray Monk come in second and third. — 9 years ago
Only six thousand bottles from a 1 ha plot! A perennial favourite of mine. Love the tightrope balance of opulence and restraint. Slightly tannic, delicious texture. Nutty, appley and immensely complex. — 9 years ago

What a wine - a must try for fans of Spanish Reds. Made in a modern style, the hallmarks of great Tempranillo are all there - nose of leather, tobacco, spice, and some cherry, but there is noticeable expression of dark fruits and other notes, including chocolate and mint. The wine is dense, but the tannins are velvety and it has fresh acidity. It should age well, but it’s completely drinkable now. The finish just lingers, unveiling layers of flavor that walk the tightrope between fruity and savory. Absolutely stunning. — 7 years ago
