The 2020 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with hints of peach skin, undergrowth and resin scents, becoming more floral with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, quite tensile with a touch of dried honey emerging towards the finish, reflecting that warm summer. Very fine. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2022)

From Magnum — Bruised apple. Some signs of aging. Should improve. — 4 years ago
Lovey pale gold color with a hint of leaf green. Medium body, Pear and honeysuckle on the nose. Pit fruit, floral notes, & mild juicy acidity with subtle, unidentifiable minerality on the finish. (Grilled rubbed pork chops, cauliflower pearls, w/ truffle & asparagus cream sauce) — 7 years ago
nature Chenin with a youthful mineral thread. — 8 years ago
Dark fruit forward, juicy blackberry, blueberry, and plum, underbrush and earth, resolved tannins and excellent lift. Wonderful. Maybe the best red I’ve had from the Finger Lakes. — 3 years ago
Sweet and easy red wine to drink as table wine. Really liked it surprisingly and was very affordable . — 4 years ago
Picked this up at the winery in FLX. Aroma of citrus and minerals. Tart minerals up front. Not your typical Chardonnay. Minerals and citrus in the middle. A quick finish. — 4 years ago
Golden yellow with pale reflections at the rim. Nose of lemon/pear skin/hints of pineapple, caramel, nuts, and a thread of mint and a nice mineral/flint tone. The palate possesses a dizzying array of flavors. The same fruits and caramel and nuttiness play out and are joined by a lemon oil, and light straw note. Big and broad and at the same time precise and delineated. This was fantastic, and firing on all cylinders. Gained depth as the hours unfolded. — 6 years ago

A Syrah-like Mondeuse. Aromatic, purplely (yes, purplely) with ripe fruit, though it’s the texture that’s earning it high marks. Someone on an earlier thread described it as “velour” (not in the matching-juicy-sweatsuit-circa-2004-tacky way, but in a blanket you want to wrap yourself in at the end of a satisfying day sort of way). A solid wine with which to toast to the happy occasion of having an old New York friend in town. Can’t remember the vintage. Matt? — 7 years ago
The 2016 Chablis Les Clos "Clos des Hospices" Grand Cru has a more complex and intellectual bouquet than the regular bottling with scents of dried honey, white chocolate, almond and light hazelnut aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity. This is still quite oaky in the mouth but there is more than enough fruit to absorb that, plus it fans out beautifully on the finish with notes of white peach and dried quince on the aftertaste. Excellent. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2018) — 7 years ago
