Dry but delicious. And sweet once you have the right food pairings. Decanted for 6 hours. Not enough. If I do it for 12+hrs it could be even better. You can tell this is a powerful wine and can hold on to that finesse taste even after being opened for hours. Addendum- I decanted two more bottles. One for 8 hrs one for 18 hrs. 18 is way too long, the wine lost a lot of its magic. The sweet spot might be 6-8hrs. — 7 years ago
Very bold blend. Tastes more like a cab than a blend. Thick and chewy with a long finish. Highly recommend. — 8 years ago
Perfect way to finish off a stunning meal. Dark golden yellow. With lots of hay and wheat on the nose. Super thick syrupy texture with tons of honey and honeysuckle. Possibly has had little TCA. Great acidity (6/10) and full bodied. Long finish too with lots of life left in it! Drink till 2030. — 8 years ago
Warm, round, full, super long finish. Soft delightful tannins — 9 years ago
A great wine for especial occasion. Great ripe black fruit, round tannins, well balanced and amazing red fruit in the palate. Long finish and delicious after taste. — 10 years ago
The fruit was still very much present, mostly stewed raspberries, cranberries, and red plum. The earth was the shining star, composted soil, tobacco leaf, and very much dusty. The acid was still in tact, and the finish was very long. Just the way an aged Bordeaux should taste!! — 11 years ago
Another visit to this lovely wine and another confirmation that 2008 was a great vintage and most probably one of the best value vintages in the last decade in Bordeaux. The wine is rich, round, elegant and smooth, already ready for drinking, with earthy notes, coffee, black current, wild berries, full round body, lovely tannins, elegant long finish. A pleasure. My score 91, drink to 2025 — 7 years ago
Bright cherry colored in the glass. The nose explodes with cassis and blueberry jam, graphite and tobacco. There is no way you would ever know this was a 2011. EVER. This has a rich palate dominated by black fruit and cassis with a subtle mineral vein. Long finish. Great balance. Their wines are consistent and classic in style. I have had every vintage of this wine from their inaugural release in 1992 and with maybe (?) one exception have loved each one. If you have not yet tried a Seavey or visited them you should put them high on your list. Their Merlot is also insane. — 8 years ago
Full bodied and big in every way. Tight tannins, with core of ripe black fruits, blackberries, black plums, cigar box, vanilla, and spice. Still tight but will open up beautifully over the next couple of years. — 10 years ago
Deep ruby/purple in the glass. Powerful aromas of dark chocolate, violet and cassis are layered with black currant and plums. The medium plus acidity drives the lush ripe fruit in the midpallet, centered around wildflowers, baking spice and dark berries. The finish is long with polished tannins and a touch of tobacco. — 7 years ago
Feather is 100% Cabernet. This is made in coordination with Randy Dunn. On the nose, dark, lightly spiced currants. Black oil, loamy soils, black licorice and fresh floral bouquet. On the palate, the mouthfeel is thick & rich. There's a good presence of wood shaving. Rich, ripe blackberries, dark cherries, candied black plum, plum, black raspberries, loamy soils, dark rich moist earth, leather, tobacco, spice-box, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, black licorice, violets and fresh red florals. Acidity is round and mouthwatering. The structure is big. The tension perfect as is the balance of fruit and earth. This is definitely a Parker wine. It's so easy to drink young, yet will cellar 10-15 years nicely. Photos of the tasting rooms hand blown glass lighting...lit up. Label was very very new looking. Questionable as to real or not. Cork is correct. Wine us correct. On the way out but just won't leave. Brown to rust color. Better as it went on. Light fruit. Amazingly long Finish. Wow. — 8 years ago
2002 vintage. In Au Fil du Zinc, Chablis. Medium lemon green hue. Lemon curd and honey, some buttery notes. Rich. Deep concentration. On the palate, medium plus acidity, full body, medium alcohol, full concentration of honey, vanilla and lemon candy pieces. Wet stone minerality present in the mid palate, rather than the nose. Quite long, but not lingering in the way some Raveneau can be. Developing in the glass. Great complexity. Still relative youngster. Drink now until 2032. NB: decant at least one hour before drinking. — 8 years ago
Spicy woodsy wonderful nose and a mouthful of cassis and light kirschy stuff that still feels young and fresh. Long way to go. — 9 years ago
Time and again a great bottle of wine!! Incredibly, despite the age it still benefits so much from a couple of hours breathing. I guess it can go a long way still in the cellar. Recommended — 10 years ago
Earthy and fantastic in a very traditional Rioja way. Long finish. This is a wine to crave, if not every day, then for special meals when the wine and the food need to dance together instead of shining separately. Fantastic. — 11 years ago
