Tegan Passalacqua

Sandlands

California Chenin Blanc 2016

True guilty pleasure. A wine this inexpensive shouldn’t make me smile this much! Clean, crisp, dry, simple, simple fun... with or without food. Lemon-lime, a bit of funk, touch of wooly lanolin, nice acid still driving the fruit towards that wonderful, long, lingering finish. Tegan... full props for keeping this wine affordable if still impossible to find apart from the list. — 6 years ago

Lux Bombino 2018

Barnyard and wet suede, and astringent high notes, on the nose. Sour tropical peels, pith, and unsweetened lime on the palate. Different, and difficult by itself. But sings once paired with salt, brine, and fat. — 6 years ago

Sottoterra Rosso Puglia 2018

Very drinkable. Needed time to open up a bit. Fruity and light. Great to drink cool. Like adult grape juice. 11% abv. Purchased at Jane in Brussels. — 6 years ago

Really quite lovely. On the red-fruited spectrum. Oak resolved, soft tannins and a medium weight but lush palate. — 8 years ago

Drank at socially distant sushi picnic with kathleen and Susanna. Juicy and mineral, light alcohol - would go with anything summery. All biodynamic! — 6 years ago

Sandlands

San Benito County Mataro 2015

Virile, yet tiny dancer light on the initial attack. Not rich, but a spreading carpet of complex, vibrating ripe black fruit with a healthy dose of black olive tapenade and balanced acidity. No noticeable oak and ready for the table NOW! Long soothing finish. Kudos Tegan! — 7 years ago

California Carignane 2014

Super elegant, only 12.8% alcohol. Fine silky tannins, a bit of funk and herbs, red fruits and delicious acidity. Tegan is making some beautiful, elegant wines at Sandlands. Too bad I only get a few bottles every year... — 8 years ago
