Best IPA I've had. That said, looking forward to having some red wine tomorrow! — 8 years ago
A real treat. Wonderfully complex and intense nose which went through a few phases. Nose was driven by truffle, earth, flowers, spice, and a touch of fruit. The palate was dynamic and smooth with a balanced and soft structure. The palate lacked the complexity of the nose but was surly showing its pedigree. Super fresh!! — 10 years ago
Sizzle-y white top pops up the zing then cleanly unlaces to a ring toss. Start the grinder you reprobate monkey. This has all the unkempt mating-cage malodorousness one could expect from such a surly primate. Sweet smelling as crystalline micturition; apple cider vinegar , whiskey sour, and lemon lozenges. Boilermaker texture, black lime, grilled lemon, lemon-lime sweet tarts, lemon alka seltzer. Overall, a little clunky, a little feral, but the finish is worth the trundle through the funky jungle. The monkey here is still golden, shimmering in a salty sunset. — 6 years ago
Great. Bunches of dense cane fruit with musky tones.
Young and fun, try it chilled or room temp with surly salads and chicken dishes.
Summer drinking for sure — 7 years ago
Mushroom and roots of river scrub poking out from muddy banks while skewering the corner-baked brownie with a thin, nearly burnt, crispy collar. A papyrus envelope lies open, filled with sandalwood soaked clay, and a blackberry, blueberry, gooseberry reduction with cassis just to tease. Lean mouthfeel that turns sharply mid-palate to a gravelly mineshaft of nutmeg, black sesame, burnt brownie bits, and soft cranberry jellies wraps up herbaceously with cedar chips, Provençal herbs, hazelnut, Brazil nut skin, hot saw blades salivating old cherrywood and belching pipe tobacco. Kept me nose deep in the funk. Brilliant wine with a surly personality. #LaFleurdeBoüard #Pomerol #rightbank #frenchred #lalande #lalandelicious #rivermonster — 8 years ago
Surly, very buttery oaky. 11 months new Oak. — 9 years ago
Pretty good.. Not quite $5 a can good. More like $4 a can good.. — 10 years ago
Deep cherry, wet leather and bark on the nose. A bushel of black cherry, fruit stem, cola, and a smokey, dark cocoa finish. Bottle-rested about 10 years so far, and just about at its peak. It's a bold and surly nightclub bouncer, but fluent in 3 languages and stuffed in black tie. — 6 years ago
Such force and power, incredible concentration of black fruit and cassis. French Oak is also a bit overbearing at this stage- bitter tannins take over at the end. Surly teenager that will soften and mature with proper care. Great aging potential for under $30, I’m sold. — 7 years ago
It’s not overly sweet. Perfect balance of sweet with hint of fruity tang. Would surly buy again! #its5oclocksomewhere — 7 years ago
A bit surly at first but quickly comes around. Dazzles not with flashy fruit or trashy oak but with roiling layers of richness. — 8 years ago

Underwood Mountain Sauv Blanc... Wow! Best SB I’ve tasted all year. Most like Sancerre of any US wine I’ve had. Plenty herbal w/ Cat Pee and snap peas but also super fresh lime flavors and racy acidity. Not for everyone but I was surly impressed. Bravo — 6 years ago
