An enjoyable, drinkable TX Hill Country bold red wine. — 6 years ago
Had this NV about three years ago and tried their new batch. The Carte d'Or cuvée has a very high proportion of Pinot Noir, which is “the Drappier style.” Aromas of stone fruit and spice in a light frothy mousse. On the palate peach, plum and raspberry with citrus zest and earthy spice. Nice flow of bubbles lead to a lingering finish ending with toasty notes. From my ‘16 notes very consistent house quality style. Nice! — 7 years ago
Opening up with a sweet sweet Meyer lemon and citrus zest from orange and lemon. As the glass warms, a fun funk of moldy cheese emerges along with some cinnamon. Warming further we see smoke, salt, limestone and granite.
The first sip of this is a roller coaster. Oddly enough fruit is the first thing across the tongue, followed hand in hand by a bright creamy smooth acidity ripe with gritty stones and finishing with a sharp, fresh, lemon juice. It has this dynamic tension, vibrating and singing with stinging stone. I haven't before seen minerals driven like this. A fun and playful pairing to all those stinky cheeses or mushrooms you surely paired along with it since no one in the house eats seafood. ;) — 7 years ago
...wow!!! Nice, nice bottle from Pat. He must have found the key to his safety deposit box because this wine rocks!!! Will certainly search out on my next visit to a top shelf steak house... — 8 years ago
Tasted a small bottle-375ml. A Champagne House is usually judged on the quality of its Brut NV. Pinot Noir provides the structure, typical Clicquot, touch of Pinot Meunier adds roundness and Chardonnay adds elegance. Light golden color with complex aromas of stone and citrus fruits and creamy biscuit. Tiny bubbles, light mousse, flavors of apple and citrus, with raspberry, well balanced structure. The finish has plenty of toasty nutty yeast, clean and elegant on the long ending. Small bottle was very fresh. — 9 years ago
From the Champagne house of Bernard Brémont, this champagne is made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Pale straw, tiny bubbles and fine mousse that lasted to bottle end. Aromas of crisp stone fruit and biscuit. The palate shows green apple, peach and citrus notes. Lively acidity on this well balanced wine that had good length on the finish leaving with minerality and yeasty notes. Nice quality. — 10 years ago
50 year old Port — 11 years ago
Delicious malbec for a very reasonable price. My new go to. I'm a geologist, so the stone in the label makes it even better as an every day wine to keep at the house. — 11 years ago
German Style IPA in the house, do not miss this one, Wonderful! — 13 years ago
Vibrant and well structured, this house Riesling from Rheingau producer Eva Fricke is a complex, dry and impressive wine with searing acidity and satisfying length. It hits many of the varietal spots, including wet stone, crunchy apple, fresh lime and a hint of petrol, all cut alongside a very linear profile, and a somewhat creamy mouthfeel that has excellent harmony. For an entry-level wine, this is very good. I can’t wait to try her village and single-vineyard bottlings. — 5 years ago
A wine with a rich purple hue. "Blackberry, raspberry and dark cherry dominate the aromas with complementary notes of anise mocha and tightly vanilla oak" — 6 years ago
I had this a number of times but, have never written notes. 🎶Tonight’s the Night!🎶
The nose reveals; lemon custard to candy, lime zest, grapefruit, pineapple, green apple, light stone fruits, green melon, lychees, cream, vanillin, light ginger, cream soda, mixed nuts, bread dough to baguette crust, light green herbs, beautiful, powdery chalkiness, sea shell fossils, volcanic minerals, yellow lilies, jasmine with mixed greens.
The body is; full, round, rich and slightly creamy. Lemon custard to candy, lime zest, grapefruit, pineapple, green apple, light stone fruits, green melon, lychees, cream, beeswax, vanillin, light ginger, white spice with some palate heat, cream soda, touch of caramel, toffee notes, nougat, marzipan, mixed nuts, bread dough to baguette crust, light green herbs, beautiful, powdery chalkiness, sea shell fossils, volcanic minerals, yellow lilies, jasmine with mixed greens. The acidity is crisp and sharp. The long finish is; rich, polished, elegant, nicely balanced, delicious and persists endlessly. Very good at its price point.

Crushed velvety leaves from alpine flowers. A wondrous bouquet of a nose, and floral in the right way, not your grandmothers bathroom kind of a way.
Seemed fitting to picture this with our urban garlic harvest. As garlic take such a long time to mature, then even after picked, must be stored properly, to get the fullness of flavor.
Sweet blackberry tar is what this well crafted wine shows up front, subtle mint, eucalyptus, river stone. A perfect tango of tannins and acids, complete with the heel in the air - or maybe that’s my heel, enjoying this wine completely.
Decanted for the usual 3-4 hours. — 8 years ago
Our go to house white. Great acidity, stone fruit, tropical melon, hint of honey with good minerality. — 9 years ago
When we go to the vineyard this is usually what my hubby and I get. Sweet and refreshing. Great with Food platter. — 10 years ago
unique for mourvedre, for all mourvedre, not just Cali. it's amazing. unique indeed, maybe due to the native fermentation of the house, but unlike anything you could possibly ever find. stone fruit and blood orange citrus upon opening; too reminiscent of white wine. then, guess what, it changes dramatically and evolves beautifully. cranberry and grapefruit acidity; much more savory after it's been exposed to oxygen for a few hours or days. this wine is a flavorite of mine from La Clarine. — 11 years ago
Good white wine for hot Texas summer. Crisp, light. Good apertif wine. — 11 years ago
Excellently balanced. Acid and salinity make immediate pallet cleanse, Golden fruit, dried grass, white flower, wet stone, lime pith & zest, most appropriate use of oak. Long finish. Oak has some dark & sweet qualities, which remind me of bourbon. Making this a staple in my house. Sexy Spanish White Wine. — 12 years ago
Stone, spice, black cherries and shortbread in the house! Silky smooth with a beautiful garnet color, but little bouquet. Still the wine went very well with Oscar’s prime rib. — 6 years ago
Brought by a friend. PnP. Nice light straw color. Enticing nose. Notes of lemon, pineapple, gravel stone, some green apple and some dry dusty earth. Nicely balanced in the mouth, the high alcohol is not as apparent as I expected. Should age well with its impressive acidity. Pretty damn good CA Chardonnay. — 6 years ago
"displays aromas of berries, spiced and cocoa. it shows complexity on the palette of plum and mature red fruits balanced with subtle tannins intense blackberry flavors and spice offset by ripe fruit characteristics". A wonderful wine by a beautiful, great new Texas Hill Country vineyard. — 6 years ago
Clarity clear, medium body, purple color, light variation at the rim, medium tears, light nose, earthy, stone, dirt, plum but not”jam”. Dry, wet stone, limestone, smoke. — 7 years ago
Largest Champagne house in France, founded in 1743 by Claude Moët. Light Golden yellow with a bouquet of stone fruits with citrus notes and yeasty tones. Plenty of bubbles dancing in the flute. From about 200 crus this cuvèe is blended from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Complex fruit, apple and pear flavors, nutty tones and minerality bring this bubbly to a lingering finish ending with a distinctive chalky taste from the soil and some toasty notes. A Favorite! — 9 years ago
2015. Butter on the front and butter on the back. — 10 years ago
This is prime juice right now. Fresh fruit at it's finest. House of the pope indeed this is godly syrah and grenache blended to a creamy, stone, leathered smoky roasted pepper and dark fruit. Two thumbs way up. — 11 years ago
Wine of the flight at learnaboutwine's (now wineLA) Top Wines tasting - House of Blues. Color: Grenache/brick NOSE: Amazing bouquet of tomato paste, olive tapenade, herb, stone, ((did not need to taste to love)) MOUTH: textured, refined, fresh, amazingly balanced and reminiscent of the legendary 1985 with perhaps a nudge of newer wood. Score 98 points (N2self - one of my greatest bottles this year) — 12 years ago
