A real wow nose. Tar, roses, dark fruit. Beautifully concentrated and intense. Some iodine and salinity but a deep and gorgeous long palate. Amazing stuff. — 4 years ago

Santo Stefano Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Without having a basis for comparison, this is a nice wine. Upon opening the nose is cherry with a touch of floral, high alcohol and light body color. Taste similarly, light with lots of cherry, smoke, tobacco, leather and tart but not fully integrated yet. As it decanted, the flavors started to meld yet never subsiding in its structure. Would like to try this after some age on it. — 5 years ago

Santo Stefano di Perno Superiore Barbera d'Alba 2015

9.0

Expressive nose of sweet and sour cherries, blue berries, incense, and dried flower. Round and bright palate with medium to high acidity and soft bittersweet tannins. From a tiny 2/3 of a hectare family holding of the Santo Stefano di Perno vineyard, aged for 18 months in used Slovakia oak barrel, this Barbera shows exceptional freshness and purity of the fruits at this young age, but also has depth and structure to age further. — 7 years ago

Stefano Antonucci Rosso Piceno Sangiovese 2020

Red Sox are finishing up a disappointing season, but this wine is definitely not disappointing. Nose is deeply fruity, with intense and pure red fruit and the barest whiff of gravel. In the mouth it’s fruity, pure, deep, dry, and balanced. If Le Marche made Beaujolais, this would be its Morgon. Fantastic value in a weekday dinner wine. — 3 years ago

Albesani Vigna Santo Stefano Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2000

BG barbaresco leads the pack. Round, rich, earthy, and full bodied. Great balance for the grape. Black cherry, cedar, and dried fruit. While not a top vintage, a benchmark that’s in its drinking window. St. Stephen will remain... — 6 years ago

Riserva Stefano Antonucci Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio 2019

Classic Verdicchio with pale lemon color and aroma of crisp apple, pear, lemon, fennel and wet stone. The high acidity is bracing and palate cleansing. More medium than light bodied and very easy to pair with food. Long finish, very clean and bright. — 3 years ago

Le Brume Langhe Nebbiolo Barbera

Delicious! Nose was full and fruity. Blueberry pie, cassis, dark fruits and some floral notes. Tastes delicious. Some tannins that softened over the course of the bottle. Would be nice decanted. — 7 years ago
