Late to post this from Friday night dinner at Gemma (Dallas spot with nice wine list). Surprised to find this one on the list and just had to order. Fortunately they decanted for us, but it was still a little cooler temp than my liking. Overall this is always a pleaser. Still can’t believe this is a second wine for PT. Silky smooth tannins. Approachable now, but will become even more elegant with time in the bottle. Can’t beat this QPR. Napa cab that holds true to Bordeaux style. (Drank 1/3/20) (not my photo) — 7 years ago

Deep and dark garnet, opaque, compact and youthful rim.

Rather restrained nose, much less expressive even as compared with its little sibling. Classic bouquet of cassis, graphite, minerals, and boysenberry.

Structured and definitely a very serious wine that needs time. Leafy cassis, herbal notes, pine cone, minerals.

Didn't want to come out of its shell today but potentials are evident. 10 years worth of patience minimum required for this mere "second wine". 90+ — 9 years ago

Holy moly, where did this one come from!? This had the nose of full throttle drunken elderberries and freshly baked blackberry pie with pepper and spice and everything nice! This tastes like whole cluster Grenache If there really is such a thing. Black and blue, pepper and spice, black cherry cola, mouth coating, inky. Dissecting out all of the notes that were swirling around, it would take me probably an hour, and everyone would be bored and probably stop reading. This was massive. Dark ruby red in the glass. Very aromatic with black cherry, crème de cassis, licorice, vanilla extract, and hints of graphite. Dense, concentrated fruit on the palate with a bit of the Rutherford dust on the back end. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, this is the second wine produced from the J.J. Cohn estate after Scarecrow. Although still in its infancy, it was a pleasure with Wagyu Steak Frites. 14.9% alcohol. $190. — 9 years ago

On this Saturday night I have opened the 2014 Réserve De La Comtesse. 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot the second wine from Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de la Lalande.

On the nose there is sumptuous dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, stewed plums, chocolate, a bit of meatiness and tar.

On the palate the dark fruit continues with blackberry, black cherry, black currant, licorice, cedar, smoky oak, mocha and an earthiness.

This wine has a velvety mouth feel an is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + fine rounded tannin that leads to a delicious lingering finish. Stay safe and continued enjoyable weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago

Beautiful wine that continually evolved over the two hours it was open. We consumed 2 bottles and the second bottle was more powerful, slightly more forward tannins and acid than the first bottle which seemed a little more constrained/reserved. Flavors of black plums, dry cherries, hints of sage and tobacco - classic Mouton. Quickly replacing 1985 Vintage Mouton as my fav. Love it.
