meaty, floral, garrigue, finessed, firm but open tannins. — 4 months ago
Excellent clarity, moderate pigment extraction, ruby red with purple tinge. Raspberry and white pepper aromas, raspberry, white pepper and black tea flavors, as promised on back label. Lots of loose seedy tannins on finish with a kids’ grape fruit juice aftertaste. Needs time to open. After an hour, tart, moderate astringency. After three hours, the raspberry and white pepper flavors were fully resolved, but the skin tannins were still largely expressive with all their astringency. Decant even longer! — 24 days ago
We visited this winery a few days ago. Thoroughly enjoyed the conversation with the winemaker, completely enjoyed how he makes the wines and were drawn in by how good the wines tasted. Out tonight enjoying salmon and this bottle shows beautifully. Some light dark berries and earth tones couple to make a very soft, wonderful Pinot. — 18 days ago
New vintage, yummy blackberries and, er, tobacco. Becoming a favorite. After 30 minutes, a healthy dose of fine-grained skin astringency emerges. Tangy or slightly tart on finish, with plenty of mouth-coating skin tannins. Worth decanting a couple of hours — 6 months ago

I’ve been excited to revisit Duncan Savage’s eponymous red from the 2018 vintage, which I last tried around four years ago having just shaken off a bout of Covid, senses struggling. Even then, it was clear how promising this wine was, and now, with a little more bottle age, it’s absolutely singing. It’s a pure, bright fruited 100% Syrah which has a tremendous savoury character, with a telltale bolt of iron on the nose. On the palate it has enormous structure, with sappy blood orange fruit and white pepper, and wonderful minerality. This is such an utterly drinkable wine, with more than enough in the tank for another decade or two. Wonderful stuff. — a day ago
