Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with farming and winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Met Joe several times. Deep Ruby with red berry fruit aromas and sweet spice notes. On the palate flavors of raspberry and ripe blackberry with sweet oak, cacao and espresso notes. Soft fine tannins perfect acidity and balance long finish ending with mineral character. Nice! A Fav! — 6 years ago
The community of Saint-Estèphe has it roots in the Gallo-Roman origins of this chateau. A blend of 78% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot & 2% Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of dense sweet black fruits with herb and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry, currant like, with tobacco, tar and hints of vanilla exposing mushroom notes. Well balanced, ripe textured tannins, long finish ending with earthy character. Nice, has plenty of room to develop. — 7 years ago

My favourite cuvée from Egly - 100% Pinot Noir. No Pinot Meunière Delectable. Only 30 cms of Top soil and the roots go straight into the chalk. One could smell the chalky minerality. Average age of the vines is 40 years - with the oldest planted in Ambonnay in 1946 with base Wine coming from the 2009 and 2010 vintages. Great power Flavour and Intensity. — 8 years ago

Second bottle of this in as many weeks. This one was quite different than the first. Definitely a lot of VA in this one. Strong acetone smell for about the first 15 minutes but most of it eventually blew off. Less fruit-forward than the last bottle. — 7 years ago
Shows Sta. Rita Hills roots. Etherial and floral in the nose, very elegant. White pepper, dill. Stems included!!! Decent complexity. Palate is not so impressive, one dimensional right now.. Very mild acidity- rather fruity then mineral. Overall, elegant CA Pinot. Pricy. Need to visit the tasting room in Lompoc. — 8 years ago

Dark fruits and well balanced tannins highlight this excellent wine. More in the medium to full body Pinot noir‘s which I prefer — 4 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Roots of Leflaive family go back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive took up residence in Puligny-Montrachet. Straw yellow color with rich stone fruits, floral and biscuit notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and ripe pear with citrus, biscuit notes and gentle spice, great mouthfeel. Long finish ending with fruit, vanilla and a mineral tang. Nice! — 3 years ago
