Love the story: vineyard of the parish priest in Piedmont. Forced to sell by the Catholic Church.
Beautiful note, reminds me a little of Nebbiolo: perfume, recipe red fruit, just wants you to put your nose in the glass. Little heavier on the palate with noticeable acidity and some tannins. — 5 years ago
Something different. Bit hot and very foursquare, but not trying to be anything else. Ideal for a ragout. — 6 years ago
Well balanced acidity with smooth finish. — 7 years ago
Medicinal and savory, opening up to an almost Burgundian prettiness about two hours in. It didn’t last, but altogether fascinating (if not consistently pleasurable). — 7 years ago
Very good. Even better after letting it sit for a bit. Paired with apple cider vinegar braised pork chops, grilled asparagus, tomato & mozzarella salad — 8 years ago
If you love Italian wines or, going further, Piemonte, you owe it to yourself to try this wine, made of the rare Ruché grape (100 ha planted as of 2010 according to the Oxford Companion). It is rather beguiling, and despite its bitter finish and tannic undergirding, reveals its charms easily. An opaque nebbiolo garnet colour. Immediate burst of citrus on the front palate. Nose of spices and leather. Bracing acidity, long tannic finish. Utterly fascinating. — 8 years ago
Wine is deep garnet. Smells like violet, decomposed bramble and slate. Immense aroma. Overwhelming. On the palate violet, cherry and strawberry. Elegant hermes leather and a touch of wet slate. Quite delicious. It wants to be a refined Sangiovese but it's more than that. Quite nice. — 3 years ago
Floral notes with a funky finish. — 4 years ago
Menthol like effervescence, herbs, wax, leather and cherry nose. Same on pallet with black dried fruit, Dark malt and cedar. Refreshing acidity and medium tannin integrate it all. Lighter medium body but long finish. — 5 years ago
Wow. Fun, fun fun. Both the bottle and the wine. Really screwed with the drawer settings on my wine fridge though. Cherry and currants but enough tannins to stand up to Ragu or a piece of meat. — 7 years ago
Dried berry fruit, lightly tart. Pleasantly light bodied. Smooth tannins and noticeable 14 ABV — 7 years ago
Found at Cucina Enoteca in Del Mar - San Diego County by the glass and at the other locations of this Restaurant group. Well not a 10 but for the money a solid 9. 🌹 roses, violets, cherry and Earl Grey tea. Ruche is a rare Italian grape from Piedmont often you get a shit wine from this very small appellation - this one is good. — 8 years ago
Apparently, the Geraniols in this wine are what make it extraordinary. I agree. It feels like I am drinking the smell of roses and geraniums. Amazing! — 4 years ago
Darker colour than the 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo tried earlier in the week. A little more rustic and less expressive on the palate but remains true to Piedemont with rose and cherry flavours and appealing texture. New grape variety for me which is interesting. Lower price point so accessible entry to the Rinaldi style which I’m currently thinking is similar to Bartolo but a less little less savoury. — 4 years ago
Floral, raspberry, dry at first — 7 years ago
Lovely, light but packs a punch. — 7 years ago
2015 vintage. Fantastic. — 7 years ago

This wine was good. Paired well with the middle eastern spread and diverse flavors. — 3 years ago
