Rendition Lock Vineyard Red Blend 2016

Ming L
9.0

From magnum. Switching in between the 2016 cab and this Rhone blend, I actually like this better. Though not overly complex, the delicious red and blue fruits, gentle acidity, and silky tannins were seamless. Throwing in the sense of earth, here we have a subtle and elegant bottle. — 7 years ago

S.C. Pannell

Adelaide Hills Nebbiolo 2008

Muted nose. Steve Pannell said decant for 2 hours before serving. I only did 45 Minutes but it did give more after 2 hours. Colour is pale to mid crimson. Aged in old French oak puncheons for 24 months. Cherry/earth aromas and flavours finishing with fine powdery slightly bitter Tannins. Perfect food wine - went well with Pork mince. An excellent rendition of a new world Nebbiolo if not a little on the light side - more like a Langhe Rosso. — 8 years ago

Weingut Salwey

Pinot Noir 2012

This is a beautiful rendition of Pinot Noir. Very Burgundian in style - bright red fruit, mineral driven, lots of secondary aromas, but just enough fruit to support, and a silky texture that emerges with some air. It is hard to find a Pinot Noir this tasty for the price. — 10 years ago

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2007

Blind, I would not have guessed this as Oregon. Smells old world for sure. Needs some time for the palate to soften and resolve the back end, but a lovely rendition of 2007. — 11 years ago

Did not taste bad, paid $49 at a fine steakhouse, and was highly recommended by our server. I never get a hangover from a good bottle of wine...the headache I got from this one was a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10! Don't drink this wine!!

Domaine de la Côte

Bloom's Field Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2014

Lovely Burgundian, stemmy aromas and spice. Nice balance and lightness. Becomes tighter and a little rustic with time and aeration in the glass. Remains youthful and full of promise. But no doubt a convincing rendition of PN! — 7 years ago

Edizione Satén Franciacorta Chardonnay 2012

The Satèn category of Franciacorta represents Blanc de Blancs at lower pressures, below 5 atmospheres. Pizzini crafts a delicate rendition, with a gentle seductive fizz. Almond dust, brioche, and lemon confit. — 8 years ago

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg

Les Chaignots Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1999

From the Georges Mugneret domaine that became Mugneret-Gibourg and now called Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, the sisters made another winner here. There are no hard Nuits edges and the cool red/blue fruit just glides over the palate, but resonates and lasts. Very pure and clean, it is a delicious red Burg entering a long phase of drinkability. Bottle has the old stained glass Saint label, not the pretty Chagall-like newer rendition, but what's in the bottle is sure pretty. Really fine wine. — 9 years ago

La Serene Noire Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2009

Slight floral quality to the edgy sweetness and gorgeous black fruit. I suspect some co-fermentation here (Viognier). Lovely, lively, and lithe on the palate. Plenty of acids here, so this will pair with nearly any meats. Just to reiterate, this is not your typical Paso syrah (no offense), but an elegant rendition of the grape. — 12 years ago

Topper's Mountain Vineyard

Nebbiolo 2011

Mid crimson with some transparency - the appearance of a red burgundy. Aromas of tar and rose petals with licorice/aniseed. Aromatic and savoury together - not a lot of fruit on the palate. A good food wine and a good rendition of a new world Nebbiolo - not unlike a Langhe Rosso. — 7 years ago

Famille Perrin

Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

This nose takes on a dominant red fruit aromatic profile that is beautifully connected with rose water accents. Less stony on the bouquet than the 2015 Beaucastel, the 2014 rendition also yields orange rind and smoked brisket aromas that make this nearly impossible to put down. The palate is both lithe and dense as the wine currently showcases Hoisin sauce, Umami, blood orange puree, red cherry syrup and black tea flavors. This is an absolute show-stopper at this juncture, showing a slightly more feminine profile than the 2015 — but this is every bit as good. Drink 2019-2030- 96 — 7 years ago

Love the comments on this wine about "dirt and cherries," @Jaime Godinez or "half Beaujolais and half Syrah," @Scott Barber, really true, Schioppettino is an interesting contrast of grapey fruit vs peppery foresty mineral characters. This is a great rendition of this rare varietal. — 11 years ago
