Forgot this wine, no indication of vintage except on the cork! A flashy earthy dark fruited presentation straight out of some wilderness, firm almost woodsy palate and good finish. Not at all what I would have thought of as Gamay. Looked like it didn’t present well several years ago. Age difference? — 23 days ago

This Pinot Noir (a.k.a. Spätburgunder), hailing from Baden, Germany, is fresh, fragrant, complex, and elegant.

👁 It has a medium ruby hue with noticeable tearing.

👃 On the nose, this wine has a medium(+) intensity of vibrant and youthful aromas. The aromas include primary notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, and red currant, also minty, black tea, anise, clay pot, and dusty stone notes. Also secondary notes of vanilla, nutmeg, clove, cardamom and toast.

👄 On the palate, this wine is dry and offers medium(+) acidity, a medium body, high alcohol, medium tannins, and medium(+) intensity of flavors consistent with the nose, including, ripe cherry, raspberry, and red currant, also minty, black tea, anise, clay pot, and dusty stone notes. Also secondary notes of vanilla, nutmeg, clove, cardamom and toast. The finish is medium.
