I couldn’t pass up picking up a bottle of the “Sideways” 20th anniversary bottling of Hitching Post’s Highliner. Aside from the movie recognition, it’s a damn good Pinot, though a bit heavier in style than others. Vivid, fresh flavors of cranberry and cherry with a bit of spice. Delicious. Fruit sourced from three different vineyards in Santa Barbara County. 100% Pinot Noir. 4/28/25. — 3 months ago

Auction wine. Broken cork. Again. Wine was at base of the neck. I think cakebread got a batch of bad corks. No wine into the cork and they all broke right at the end. Not sure how it affected the wine but it’s been a consistent issue

Wine exhibited some decent fruit but no real depth or grip. Very smooth and medium body but missing some power and complexity expected from this site.

From Joel’s cellar offering a year or so ago. Outstanding freshness and vigor in this one. Light in color as most of the pigment had pasted itself on the sides of the bottle. Deep nose of plum/Healdsburg prune and cedar. Comes across as both primary and tertiary at the same time. Firm acidity with gripping tannins. — 3 years ago
