I was scared at first. Vintage isn't the best one, tough conditions, rain close to harvest date.
Then I popped it and suddenly That happened. Definitely, Lafite is another breed of wine. I must admit that this is a rather austere Lafite but fruit is there, topical Bordeaux nose, very "Old School". mint, pudding and confit fruit (not dry nor overripe, rather mature I must admit).
Give Bordeaux best properties some bottle age then you understand why all the buzz. Loved it! — 11 years ago

The body is crazy crazy garnet (beautiful) and seriously viscous! Dripping crimson down the sides of the glass after a swirl.
Tannins are soft but plentiful. About to eat it with a steak and beurre rouge... Should be a great fit.
Lots of subtle dark fruit with vanilla and a bit of spice.
Definitely fine by itself but can handle food.
I CAN FEEL IT STAINING MY TEETH!
Not a first date wine ;)

Wine of the night. This wine had EXCELLENT fruit, and showed NO VISIBLE SIGNS of decline. Great powerful blackberry. I was guessing 01 Stag's Leap or Rutherford. Turns out it was Caymus SS 01, but I was second guessing myself on the year because it was a very purple color into the decanter and showing well. The wine had great vanilla on the front, blackberry on the front, and a more youthful middle and finish with some herb. This wine has 10 years left in it no doubt. Whoever cut this one off at 2017 has no idea. This one literally showed no signs of decline whatsoever. Drink by date 2007 - 2030. — 9 years ago

Extremely complex and rich wine that explodes with lots of dark fruit, caramel, chocolate, licorice and eucalyptus on the palate. In some ways it almost takes on a Syrah like taste with interesting hints of roasted meats. Very nicely integrated but big and bold.
