Very nice barrel aroma and flavors. Very different. A little sweet and seems a little unbalanced somehow. — 6 years ago

Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Zinfandel Blend 2017

So good. Lifted, gracious, and pure, with wonderfully sappy, medicinal raspberry and kirsch character. So fine and energetic and juicy. Absolutely love it but it's wound a little tight at the moment. Give it a year or two. — 7 years ago

Pretty Horses California Tempranillo Graciano 2014

I tasted this bottle 1 and 2 years ago and can say this has evolved nicely with life ahead. It is fuller and more palette-coating than I recall. This time I drank it over 1.5 hours open and it kept positively evolving and blossoming. At the end: Large aromas of succulent red fruit, graphite, and a trace of cracked black pepper. Palette is very tannin forward with med acidity and notes of red fruits, mineral, and a little something green. — 7 years ago

T'n'S Blocks Hudson Vineyard South Syrah 2013

In a weird place in my opinion. I see amazing potential. (Very well could be my mood). Violets, cotton candy, meatiness and dark red fruits on the nose. Suave, velvety texture of plush red fruits, flowers, and bacon fat on the palate. Maybe it's a little to suave for my liking tonight, i was wanting a little tension. I have several of these so I'm gonna revisit in 3-5 yrs. — 8 years ago

Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

This has all the flavors and aroma for a fine Pinot Noir. A little bolder than some, lite pepper notes followed by fruits and ferment. Very nice drink. — 7 years ago

Summit Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2013

Currants, dried strawberries, and dark cherries, with spice, oak, and I think even a little cocoa, maybe orange peel too. This is darker and deeper than a lot of west coast Pinots. The acidity is pretty strong and balanced the dark fruit well. Tannins are moderate to light. I had this with salmon, roasted potatoes, and cabbage cooked in duck fat. The salmon was farmed and a little too light for the wine, but cabbage in duck fat was a treat with this. — 7 years ago

Carneros Chardonnay 2013

Beautiful pale gold in the glass with thin edges. Pineapples, pears, honey crisp apples, and vanilla on the nose. The aromas don’t try to overpower you with, instead they subtly seduce you. Plush mouthfeel and incredible balance. This is not a stereotypical buttery Chard, nor is it overoaked. There’s oak to be had here but just about the right amount. On the palate, the citrus qualities come to life more but not in an overbearing manner. Lemon, more pears, and melon on the forefront with butterscotch and apple pie on the backend. A little unexpected spice note on the finish takes this baby home. Classic but not austere, a bit of elegance without the pomp. Very nice stuff. — 8 years ago

Ode to Lulu California Old Vine Rosé Blend 2016

Light salmon pink, light bodied, not much aroma until it was in glass for about 30 minutes then some soft melon and strawberry, flavors much more pronounced than the nose. Strawberry, watermelon rind, medium/low acid but still balanced, dry and a little spritzy. — 9 years ago

A beautiful unfiltered sake with banana, white peaches and green apple on the nose with sour papaya, pineapple, fresh coconut and lemon zest. This sake starts out a little tart on the palate and smooths out in 4 to 5 seconds and leaves a luscious creaminess on the palate that goes well with medium fatty fish. This is a medium bodied sake to pair with hirame or sake. — 6 years ago

Deep purple in color, medium bodied. 52% petit Verdot, 26% Malbec, 22% Cab. Nice blend of blackberry and plum. A little earthy on the nose but has a smooth finish with slight tannins. A bit peppery. — 7 years ago

North Coast Syrah 2016

A little richer syrah expression than some of the single vineyards but well balanced. Dark fruit with a spice and pepper note that should continue to evolve for several more years. — 7 years ago

This is Palmaz’s second wine. I’ve been fortunate to have visited Palmaz once...one of the most incredible winery tours with their high tech tools.

This is a nice second wine. Still required a 30min+ decant due to age, but it was easy to drink after. A lot of toasted graham cracker, blackberries and fig on the nose. Palate was similar with little tannic bite. Smooth. There was a unique aspect to the finish of this wine...cinnamon bread wrapped in dark fruit. Very interesting.

Not a bad wine, but it just wasn't feeling it. This one had a lot of chalky and youthful fruit. Reading Shay's tasting note pretty much recreates the experience, but I just didn't see a lot of Dimensions here and almost seemed to have a slightly "generic-ness" to it.
