Trebbiolo Rosso Barbera Bonarda 2017

Barbera & Bonarda blend from an Emilia Romagno maker. I love this style- gave a good 45+ min decant. Imagine the Bonarda offsets the Barbera fruitiness. Keeps a taut line btw vegetal acidity & that earthy fruitiness. Natural maker of some serious orange wines. 13% alcohol. Didn’t hurt that we drank at sunset, on the Hudson River at home. — 6 years ago

Rosso Viola Lambrusco 2017

DD: 16.02.2018

@Riddley Walker You get such great Italian wines where you are. Ever in DC? Let me know.

Indeed! And a small piece of paper with the message from the winemaker hidden under the capsule was a nice touch too 👍🏻 @Rob Brobst III

I actually bought this bottle in Ukraine 😉 With politicians playing their games I’m not sure I will get a US visa any time soon being a Russian citizen and all 🤷🏼‍♂️ But I’d like to revisit DC one day! (Stayed for a month there many years ago when I still was in high school) @MaJ CappS

Cá de Noci

Querciole Frizzante Spergola 2015

Lemon rind, vanilla, raw almond, pear, even some grapefruit. Honey in the nose. Really effervescent and light and fun, but still complex. A brunch orange wine, like a mimosa without the bullshit. — 7 years ago

Sottobosco Red Blend 2011

Yum yum yum! A natural, fizzy Lambrusco that punches your mouth with tannins, but not so much that you can't taste the juicy black fruit goodness. — 11 years ago

Very worthy blend from Romagna. Lots of ripe dark fruit up front with spice at the end. Very round and good depth. Will improve with a few years aging. Really good value for the price. — 6 years ago

Barbolini

Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro

Such a weird and interesting wine - secco spumante Lambrusco from natural fermentation. Its not a wine really like any others. Deep concentration in color, and aromas of pencil box, Luxardo Cherry juice, purple flowers, and black raspberry. The pallet is fully of bright acidity, with prominiate tannin structure, black currant, dried herbs, and chalk mineral, all encompassed by medium fizz - similar to any other spumante wine from Italy. Perfect for pasta with a tomato based sauce and a touch of spice, or pizza - served slightly chilled. Too cold and this wine is worthless... 50-55 degrees is perfect. Gotta say I've enjoyed this wine more than I care to admit. Cheers 😁 — 7 years ago
